Pyro 1948 Lincoln Continental, 1/25, C330-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$44

From the mid 1960s and the only larger scale kit of this classic car. 'Good' kit with full engine, removable hood and convertible top. Molded in a very nice dark green. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Edsel Ford himself sketched the design for the large V-12 equipped convertible with the assistance of Bob Gregory. The cars were incredibly popular. This was likely due to good looks and not the power plant; it made only 125 hp and was always troublesome.

Lindberg Tuna Clipper 'Ann' (Gulf Star) - (Ex-Pyro and Life-Like), 1/58, 70896

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$38

Still factory sealed. From quality Pyro molds dating from the early 1960s. Modeled from the two Tuna Clippers (Gulf Star and Sea Magic) of the Avondale Marine Ways Company of New Orleans. Model has a hull length of 13.5 inches. Pyro actual designed these for water operation (with the Boat PowerPack which sold separately), so they make nice small R/C models. Hard-working tuna boats and crews roamed the ocean year-around in a dangerous business. Many vanished without a trace. The Gulf Star was wrecked on a reef off Peru.

Very large 1/6 scale model of one of the most attractive biplanes of all time. Deluxe, high quality true scale model down to the rib spacing with the exception of the stabilizer, which is 30% bigger in area than the actual aircraft. For .35 to .45 size engines or could easily be converted to electric power since the finished weight is 7 lbs with radio and servos. This kit has not been started. Inside it is untouched. Enterprise Cycle Miniatures Tandem Bicycle, 1/15, B2

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$38

Rare. Enterprise was a very successful maker of balsa wood free-flight and control line aircraft models dating well back into the 1930s. The Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' got the attention of Enterprise staff. Enterprise maintained their own museum of rare and extraordinary old time bicycles, so it only seemed natural that the first (and only) two plastic kits from the company would represent bikes. This model is of the Tandem, based on an example from 1896 and is very nicely molded and detailed for that time. It includes a display base also. This model and a 'Old High Wheeler' were fine kits issued in 1954 but did not sell well; production was discontinued after a short run. The kit has never been started. All parts are either still sealed in the 'krinkle' bag or have been inventoried 100% complete with the base.

SMP 1959 Chevrolet Nomad Station Wagon / 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible Promos, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$58

SALE!! Includes both 100% complete promos in 'good' condition. Both have been in the same adult collection since the very early 1960s. The 1959 Nomad is friction drive with a metal chassis. The two tone finish is all original. There is slight warping, but not much compared to how these usually look. Never played with and the tires show zero wear. The 58 Impala is a roller with a plastic chassis; the make is not listed although it is probably AMT. There is slight warping but not as much as most examples. Both models have been professionally detailed with silver paint - the door handles, lettering, emblems, etc have been very neatly painted. Quality is high enough to easily pass for factory paint.

Aurora Convair 880 SuperJet TWA, 1/103, 384-250

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$225

Still factory sealed. Dated 1961. The Convair 880 and it's near sister 990 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs. The 990 was a larger and faster (mach .91) airliner, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two 990s for decades after the last 990 was phased out of commercial service.

Hasegawa Mig-21 Fishbed - USSR / Czech / North Vietnamese / Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force, 1/72, JS012-250

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$22

Revell 1910 Pierce Arrow Highway Pioneers, 1/32, H48-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$44

1953 issue, the first year for the 'Series Three' Highway Pioneers. The box is nice and the kit is molded in a stunning, bright red glossy acetate plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Tamiya TWO KITS Fiat G-91 (G91) / R1/ R4 - Italian Acrobatic Flight Team / Italian Air Force (2 aircraft) / Greek Air Force, 1/100, PA1007-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$16

Includes TWO G-91 aircraft. Part of Tamiya's extensive and well detailed line of 1/100 aircraft. Each model includes decals for all four aircraft. The kits have never been started. Both models are still in the factory sealed bags and include decals and instructions. In 1961, the US Army evaluated four 'Ginas' for possible use in the close support/forward air control role. Despite much anticipatory rejoicing by Army aviators, this interesting project was abandoned when most fixed wing types were transferred to the USAF.

Frog English Electric Canberra P.R.7, 1/72, 323P

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Rare, early issue from the 1950s. This is a fine example that includes all the possible paperwork. It includes the Frog inspection slip (No. 1 at that). a fold-out Frog catalog (with a blue, white and yellow cover), a Frog 1 July 1958 "Plastic Scale Aircraft, Kits, Etc" Price List from Lines Brothers and a second instruction sheet in various languages. The kit is molded in silver and clear and has the correct large, clear round-based stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Even includes the original glue capsule. Decals are in amazing 'excellent+' condition as are the instructions. NOTE: the box displayed better than the 'very good+' ranking but is graded as such because there is a tape tear (1.5" x .5") on the upper long side, marks from tape and a small section of missing litho from the right short side (1" x .75").
