Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG

First issue hardbox dated 1957 with great Jo Kotula artwork. Please note the 69 cent price extension and oval 'Famous Fighters' sunburst logo. This is part of a popular and very successful series of 1/48 scale WWI aircraft that Aurora started in 1956 and added to well into the 1960s. Many of the line were in production right up until the demise of Aurora in the mid 1970s Molded in correct high-gloss olive drab and black plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Even includes the factory tissue packing paper. Please NOTE: this kit displays slightly better than the 'Very Good' rating but is graded as such because there is a 1/2" x 1/4" tape tear on the lower long side.

Includes decals and paint guide for both aircraft. NOTE: the decals have a small amount of light stains on the backing paper only; because of that, I would only rate the decals as 'good.'

Second issue hardbox is dated 1957 with great Jo Kotula artwork. Although dated '57, it is from about 1963 due to the lack of 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the oval logo. This is part of a popular and very successful series of 1/48 scale WWI aircraft that Aurora started in 1956 and added to well into the 1960s. Many of the line were in production right up until the demise of Aurora in the mid 1970s. Molded in correct olive drab and black plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Please note that the box is only 'good' with scuffs as show, especially across the top.

Rare, early LS kit in a high gloss box top with very collectible artwork. Most likely from the early 1960s. Even at this early date, you can see why LS became legendary for quality. Features well molded parts with all fine recessed panel lines, retracting landing gear, opening piece canopy, movable ailerons, rudder and elevator and two bombs. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Some of the LS molds are still used today by Hasegawa, testifying to their detail and accuracy.

Rare, first issue from about 1956. This was a fine effort by Aurora for that time and an impressive model when assembled. Features retracting pontoons and rotating propellers. Includes correct early logo instructions which show the clear 'Triangle World' stand. This correct stand is included. This must be one of the first instances of the 'Triangle' stand being used as it is normally associated with oval 'Famous Fighter' logo kits. Molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. It is interesting to note that the early Aurora PBY issue has at least three small variations to the box top. The very first issue says '1/4 SCALE MODEL' at the top right. Clearly, this kit is not 1/48 scale and someone at Aurora corrected it. Following that, there are two known corrections: early and late. On the early version, the '1/4' was blotted out with a dark blue oval or circle and '5/32' was added after the word 'SCALE.' It was now correct, but the appearance was not completely professional. This box is the later version - on the next box order, they kept the '1/4' blotted out but added a proper looking '5/32' in front of the blot.

SALE!! Includes two kits in the one box shown. Both models are never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Limited issue injection molded kit that is well detailed with all recessed panel lines and numerous photoetched parts on two brass frets. On January 10, 1945, Hitler held a conference during which the staff discussed ways that the Luftwaffe could restore a degree of air superiority. During this discussion, Hitler suggested to Goering that the 50mm cannon be installed in a '262 so that it could open fire at longer ranges with more telling results. Two different cannon were examined; the Mauser Mk214A was chosen over the Rheinmetall Borsig BK5 and was installed in Me-262 W.Nr. 111899. The aircraft made the first flight in February of 1945. The pilot, Herget, flew the craft in practice against ground target then actually flew to operational missions against a US bomber formation. On both occasions the gun jammed. A second aircraft was built, but it likely did not fly before the end of the war. American forces captured this second aircraft (named 'Wilma Jeanne and then 'Happy Hunter II') but it crashed while being flown to France. The decals furnished are for that second prototype.

Rare 1975 Japan issue with unique and beautiful box artwork and a superb "Excellent+' condition box. As with most Japan issues, this one contains extra decals for a total of two aircraft. There is also a large, full color painting on the front of the instructions. Well detailed large scale kit of the British night fighter with airborne interception radar. The Beaufighter was flown by aces such like Flt./Lt. "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is one that can be depicted in this model. Kit features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. The kit has never been started. The parts are still sealed in the internal factory bag. Includes decals and instructions. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.
