Aurora Northrop P-61 Black Widow, 1/48, 392-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$179

Still in the factory seal and in 'Excellent+' condition. The only flaws are corner creases at the left side as shown. This hardbox issue is dated 1960; however it lacks the 'Famous Fighters' in the oval logo boarder and has a 198 price extension, so it dates about 1963/64. This large 1/48 scale model features some of Jo Kotula's finest artwork of a P-61 on patrol over a South Pacific island base at night, destroying an intruder (or defender?). The kit is usually molded in black and clear; however I cannot confirm that since it is still factory sealed.

Aurora P-51 Mustang Screwdriver Issue, 1/27, 377-350

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM++

$245

Original issue dated 1969 and in remarkable, investment-grade 'Near Mint++' condition. The box has only a tiny bit more wear than when it came off the assembly line. This kit was originally designed as a gas powered flying model. However, Aurora discontinued the gas powered line very shortly after introduction due to returns and liability issues. Since the mold investment was already made, Aurora marketed these kits as large scale static models and they became know as "Screwdriver Kits" to collectors. For example, the 1/32 scale B-25 was issued in Gas U-Control and then static - but the P-51 may have only been issued in static. Molded in dark blue, light blue and clear & with many metal parts. Never started. The metal parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. All other parts have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals in amazing, perfect 'Mint' condition and instructions in 'excellent' condition with yellowing as the only significant flaw. Even includes the original factory screwdriver with the clear yellow handle.

Airfix Boston Bomber, 1/72, 385

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$28

Type three logo issue from the 1960s. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. The lower left corner of the decal sheet has a small black stain, but the actual transfers are clear of damage.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/48, 102-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$69

Just when I think all the issues have surfaced for an Aurora kit, another one shows up! This is a 120-69 (same number as the first issue) 'Famous Fighters' oval logo with the '69' price circle and the Parents' Magazine seal. That makes this the second issue - it would have been put out in early 1957, with the very first re-imaging to the new logo. It also shows that the Parents' seal was used as early as 1957 on some kits. The box artist on this issue is Jim Cox, the first model box artist for Aurora. (Please read the article about Mr. Cox on this website) This kit is part of a very successful WWI aircraft line in 1/48 scale that Aurora introduced in '56. The line sold so well that kits were added to it into the 1960s. Molded in the glossy olive drab green and black. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora British SE-5 Scout - With Parents' Magazine Seal, 1/48, 103-79

$115

Still factory sealed and in amazing investment-grade 'Mint' condition. The seal is intact. Rare box art version with perfect color and gloss. Hardbox is dated 1960 and it appears that this design was only issued for a few years at the most.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$165

1954 Pre-'S' release with beautiful artwork. The box has factory new gloss and color; the only significant flaw is the light stain shown at the far right center. Never started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag, while the large parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals, flag sheet and instructions.

Ace Whitman De Havilland Venom Fighter - Balsa Model Airplane Kit, 1/64, 2284

The 'Ace Whitman' name was used by Joe Ott for some of his marketed kits. This model is a solid display model from 1952 and features an 80% precarved fuselage, die cut parts, full size plans and a stapled bag of detail parts (probably wheels). The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Pyro 1932 Plymouth PB Sport Roadster, 1/32, C336-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$38

1967 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior, spoked wheels and a removable hood. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including and instructions.

Aurora Sikorsky S-55 Windmill - (ex Helicopters for Industry), 1/45, 503-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$225

Most likely the second issue from around 1962/63. Please note the oval logo where the original rectangular one was. The original issue has the same great box art but with the 'Northern Lights' logo at the upper right. The model is from the ex-Helicopters for Industry molds and was an excellent kit for the early 1950s. Features features fine raised detail, cockpit seats, instrument panel and control sticks, opening cabin door, floats with wheels and decals for US Air Force, Navy, Army or Marines. Molded in a stunning gloss dark blue and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Revell US Army Tactical Missiles Little John and Dart with Launchers - 'S' Issue, 1/40, H1812-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$125

First issue from 1958. The box is in superb 'excellent++' condition with like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, not price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape), no fading and no litho tears. The only flaws are a light crease at the top left and very light general wear. Little John was a light-weight free-flight rocket that was highly mobile. It could be pulled on its launcher or transported by helicopter. Length was 12 feet long and the warhead was atomic. The Dart was a very early, five foot long wire-guided anti-tank missile with a solid propellant rocket motor. An optical rangefinder was used for guidance. Both models are well detailed. The Dart includes four missiles, one launcher, three stands, decals, one optical guidance unit and a crew of three. The Little John includes a detailed launcher with elevating rails, movable support legs, decals and crew of three. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
