Guillows Nieuport 11 - 24 inch Wingspan for Free Flight or R/C Conversion, 203

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Still factory sealed. Dates from the late 1960s. Large scale model can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small, light servos and receivers. Features quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, die-cut plywood firewall for gas operation, light plastic cowl, pilot bust, machine guns, engine and more, scale plastic wheels, rubber motor, thrust button, plastic propeller, big sheet of full color decals, covering tissue and excellent full size plans with instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

First motorized issue from the late 1950s with great hardbox artwork by Ray Gaedke. The box is in stunning 'excellent++' condition with factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no tape or price tags or marks from either and minimal light wear. The colorful aircraft combines with a brightly painted, grassy background, including a well turned out (Army) ground crewman, to produce an almost storybook, 'beautiful day in the neighborhood' atmosphere. A most attractive and, in an historical context, almost whimsical image. Please read the biography of Ray Gaedke, which is located on this website. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Still factory sealed and very rare in an amazing, investment grade 'Sealed Near Mint++' box. This is the finest K-36 issue that I have seen and it came from the stock of a long-closed hobby shop.
