Nicely detailed model includes optional parts for one of three different aircraft, detailed landing gear, optional Blue Steel missile, optional position boarding hatch and stairs and a decal and marking guide for the three aircraft listed. Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG++
$425
1958 release of this kit featuring classic Jo Kotula boxart. The large 1/48 scale missile comes with a fully operational scale launcher. The hardbox is 'very good++' with great color and gloss, four solid corners, no price tag or tape tears, no torn or missing litho and no creases. Flaws include edge and corner wear as shown and light general wear. The kit has never been started and is factory new inside right down to the original tissue packing paper. Aurora factory sealed the silver parts and the red missile parts; these are both still sealed. The deep blue parts were not sealed but have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts. Includes decals and instructions in 'excellent' condition. This kit must be shipped insured. The Aurora "Missile Line" is legendary. In the late 1950s, the first missile model kits sold briskly, so Aurora and Revell both planned extensive lines. However, the missile modeling craze disappeared as quickly as it started. Models that were in the works were canceled or completed if they were far enough along. Those that were completed were fine efforts but sold poorly and had very short lives, making them rare collector items today.

Plastic kits were not the primary business, but they established quite a line of them before discontinuing production in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Many molds moved to Kader, also in Hong Kong, who reissued the line. Many molds eventually found their way to the USA either through ATP (who purchased the excess kit stock when Kader sold out) or IM.

Still factory sealed and in investment-grade 'near mint' condition. The only flaw is a split seal on the right short side. 1962 issue with fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork. This kit is a very good representation of the rare 'Freedom Fighter' prototype N-156. It developed into the F-5, which was widely exported and saw service in over 30 countries. Only three of the N-156 prototypes were built. The design centered around two GE J85 turbojets which originally powered the ADM-20 Quail decoy carried by the B-52 fleet. Initially there seemed to be little demand until President Kennedy's Military Assistance Program required a low-cost fighter that could be provided to US Allies. The N-156 was easily the top choice. It was renamed the F-5 and the rest is history - it became one of the most widely used fighter/bombers in post-WWII history and is still in service in some air forces. Kit includes pilot, cockpit and instrument panel and three drop tanks and early AIM-9 Sidewinder Air-to-Air Missiles.

Very rare kit with a fascinating history. Around 1958/59, Orange Crush of Mexico offered a promotion. They offered free, colorful, plastic model cars if you collected correctly-marked Orange Crush bottle caps. The most common set is the 1/32 scale Revell Highway Pioneer series - although there is no mention of Revell or Lodela anywhere on the box. Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacturer. What most people have never seen is the other cars the Crush offered beyond the Highway Pioneers. Again, these were from Revell (Lodela) molds and this time 'Revell' is listed two short box sides in addition to Orange Crush. Inside, the instructions are specially made for Orange Crush but also have the Revell logo. Inside is the classic Revell kit with detailed engine and chassis, opening hood, detailed interior with separately molded inside panels and driver and passenger figures. Molded in ivory plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Once you had your bottle caps, they could be redeemed one of two ways - at the Orange Crush truck and at a Modelandia Hobby House. Orange Crush also released two full-color booklets and a complete paint set for the cars. A colorful cardboard box held 7 colors of paint in glass bottles, complete with 'Orange Crush' screw-on caps! Robina S.A. was the bottler or distributor of Orange Crush in Mexico at that time. The box side shows three sizes of OC - Family Size (Familiar), Grand (Grande) and Normal. You could also obtain models with Titan bottle caps. Titan was also bottled by Robina and came in large (Titan) and smaller (Titancito) sizes and apparently more than one flavor, judging from the box side illustration. It is not know for how long the promotion lasted, but Orange Crush was one of the most dominant soft drinks in Mexico at that time. Here is one clue: some boxes claim that Modelandia had 13 locations; other boxes, which obviously came later on, claim 19 locations. This indicated that the promotion went on for a significant amount of time. Oddly enough, the '56 Eldorado box does not mention Modelandia, although we know they were deeply involved in the Crush Highway Pioneers. This kit must be shipped insured.

The models are 1/32 scale Revell Highway Pioneer series - although there is no mention of Revell or Lodela anywhere on the box. Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacturer. They were never given numbers. The boxes were very thin and fragile cardboard. This has contributed to wear and you must be very cautious with them. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and the instructions are sealed in the bag as well. You could redeem your caps two ways - at the Orange Crush truck and at a Modelandia Hobby House. The box sides show the 18 cars in the series. Orange Crush also released two full-color booklets and a complete paint set for the cars. A colorful cardboard box held 7 colors of paint in glass bottles, complete with 'Orange Crush' screw-on caps! The entire promotion was done in coordination with Modelandia Hobby House which had up to 19 stores. Modelandia's name appears on each of the boxes and the paint as well. Robina S.A. was the bottler or distributor of Orange Crush in Mexico at that time. The box side lists the other 18 kits with small color pictures of each and shows three sizes of OC - Family Size (Familiar), Grand (Grande) and Normal. You could also obtain models with Titan bottle caps. Titan was also bottled by Robina and came in large (Titan) and smaller (Titancito) sizes and apparently more than one flavor. We do not know how Orange Crush had access to the plastic kits or who sealed the internal bags with the Crush instructions inside them. We can assume that it may have been Lodela, since they would have had access to the Revell molds. It is not know for how long the promotion lasted, but Orange Crush was one of the most dominant soft drinks in Mexico at that time.
