Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc++
$38
Reissue of the 1936 Peerless Model Airplane Company Kit. Peerless was not around for long until they were bought out by Cleveland. As a result, Peerless kits are considered rare, so this is an ideal way to obtain a 'builder' model. Golden Age is a high quality company committed to reissuing classic stick and tissue kits and plans from the Golden Age of flying models, the 1930s. Kit are of very high quality and include printwood, strip wood, nose block, plastic propeller, rubber motor, vac wheels, prop shaft, thrust button and bearings, beautiful copies of the original full size plans and covering material. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions.

Hard-to find kit of the old Japanese Naval Training Ship. The two sister ships were built in Kobe and launched in 1930. They were both steel four-masted barques carrying royals over double top and topgallant sails. They served as school ships for the Japanese merchant marine. After WWII, they carried demobilized soldiers home, and up to 1951 made dozens of trips to Asia and the Pacific. In 1952, they worked to collect the remains of Japanese war dead from the South Pacific. The ships were replaced in 1989. Very nicely detailed kit in large 1/200 scale. The assembled kit measures about 19 inches long when built. Molded in white, yellow and brown and includes extensive vacuform sails. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

1961 issue in the famous 'Airmail' design box with artwork by J. Tsuchimori. This is the second version of this kit and the last issue to retain the 'Revelving' clear globe base that the "S" issue kits had. As a bonus it includes the trading stamp for this kit as well. The straight turbojets have been replaced with the early Jt3D-1 Fanjets, and the vertical fin is higher. Features moving rudder, rotating wheels and Revell's famous 'Globe' stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Please note that the box has light paint overspray on the left side as shown and tape residue on the sides, hence the lower 'good' grade.

1960s 'Yellow' style issue. Full hull kit featuring very fine raised and recessed hull detail, movable elevator, rudder and diving planes, counter-rotating props, decals and display stand. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The box displays better than the 'good-' grade but it is rated as such because there are two closed tears on the long sides, and one extends up on the box top. There is also plenty of other general wear.

Dated 1960, but I believe this is actually a later issue due to the 100 cent price extension and no 'Famous Fighters' logo on the short box sides. Molded in a brilliant gloss deep blue and clear with the clear triangle 'World' stand. These molds are from one of Aurora's first two kits - the F9F and F-90. Aurora simply went out and purchased the early Hawk F9F and F-90 kits and copied them almost exactly. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Piloted version of the famous A-4 (V-2) Rocket. The idea was the accuracy could be improved by providing a pilot who would do the final aiming then bail out. Several of the A 4b were actually built and test flown, but none with pilots. The reduced drag design, basically a two stage A 4B with strakes, was the intercontinental EMW A 9. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Hardbox issue dated 1957 but probably from the early 1960s since the oval Aurora logo does not have 'Famous Fighters' in the outline. The box is in excellent condition. Small scale kit with dramatic Jo Kotula box artwork. Nicely molded kit with clear canopy, full landing gear and display stand. This is a model of the very early YF-102 prototype with the straight (non-area rule) fuselage. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Around this time, Aurora issued a series of inexpensive (usually 29 cent) small scale kits that were designed to sell at almost any type of retail location. The line was successful and further expanded - when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they fit in nicely with this established line.
