Still factory sealed. Very rare kit. Has optional parts to build one of two versions, the Hisso or J-4b powered. Complete injection molded kit in two colors with rubber wheels, full decals for US Mail-Colorado Airways or Pacific Air Transport Air Mail, instructions and painting guide. The M-1 holds two very special places in American Aviation History. First, it is the first production monoplane and played a key roll in early airmail. In the 1920s, Government contracts for flying airmail on a $/mile basis was about the only thing keeping commercial aviation alive and growing. In 1926, the M-1 was the first aircraft to fly with PAT, Pacific Air Transport. PAT linked Seattle to LA with mail contracts. The other unique item is that this was the Ryan NYPs (Lindbergh's aircraft) father. When Lindy visited Ryan in 1927, he flew the M-1. He requested an airplane that was similar but larger - thus the NYP was born and aviation history was made.

SALE!! First issue from 1956 with the one-year only Northern Lights logo. Art is by Jim Cox. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays 'near mint' or better but is graded 'excellent' because there is a 1 inch tape tear (from the factory tape) on the top long side. This kit is one of a very successful line of 1/48 WWI aircraft that Aurora launched in 1956. The line sold so well that new kits were added into the 1960s. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab green and black. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Thanks to Eugene DuBey, we know some history on the aircraft that Aurora modeled. The tail # on the kit rudder is 1354, the number of a Nie 16 that served with "CAM de Dunquerke / St Pol sur Mer", 1916-17.
