Aurora Curtiss Hawk P-6E, 1/43, 116-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

SALE!! The kit is dated 1958, but this is obviously a later issue from about 1963 as the Aurora logo does not say 'Famous Fighters' in the border and has no sunburst. The two side logos, however, do say 'Famous Fighters' on the logo. Kit features movable rudder, elevators and wing ailerons, cockpit with pilot, seat, instrument panel, gun sight and feet stirrups, auxiliary gas tank and rotating prop and wheels. Molded in gloss dark green and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Sterling Piper Cub J-3 - 30 Inch Wingspan for R/C / Control Line / Free Flight, A22

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed. Purchased new on April 19, 1967 at the hobby shop on State Road in Cleveland, OH. This kit is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for R/C and also includes numerous extra parts for control line operation. Can also be flown free-flight. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine, cowl and other details, clear windows, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Renwal SSB(N)-598 George Washington Polaris-Launching Nuclear Submarine, 1/200, 651

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Classic large (24" long) Cold War SSBN with amazing and dramatic box art. Original issue from the late 1950s; not the common reissue. Features full interior which the starboard hull half swings down to display. The interior detail on the box top is very well and close to exactly duplicated by this kit. Features rotating propeller, working diving planes, rudder, periscopes, snorkels and actual 'launching' Polaris missile from a spring loaded tube. Includes two Polaris A-1 missiles, crew members and display stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the box displays well but has significant wear and scuffs as shown and also litho tears and a closed rip on the box sides. I would not grade it in 'collectible' condition but just below that.

Airfix Great Western Ocean Liner, 1/180, 882-1800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Large scale Japan issue. The Great Western was the first ship specifically built for the Atlantic Ferry Service and was designed by I.K. Brunel (who designed the Great Eastern). When launched in 1837, she carried 120 first class, 20 second class, and beds could be set up for an additional 100 if needed. The crew was 60 men. The first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean was in April of 1838 and took just over 15 days. After crossing the Atlantic 64 times, she ran for 10 years between Southampton and the West Indies before being broken up in 1857. The kit has never been started. NOTE: Missing one part, the rudder. This is a flat part that is well illustrated in the instructions- you can reproduce it fairly easily. I have included some thick plastic to help with that. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, ratlines, sails, flag and instructions present.
