Berkeley Aeronca Sedan Land or Seaplane Flying Model Airplane Kit, 1/12

Big 1/12 scale model with a 35.25 inch wingspan. Originally designed as a gas powered model for free flight or control line, it can be converted to electric power and modern R/C (radio control). Includes all parts to build as a landplane but includes plans and instructions for seaplane and floats. Features numerous die-cut and perfabricated wooden parts, strip stock as required, formed wire landing gear, completely finished wheels, die-cut clear windshield and side windows, a large decal sheet, covering material, full size plans and more. The model has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and plans present. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.

KVZ was the logo used by this East German kit manufacturer from 1969 to 1973. During this time, some fantastic Cold War kits were produced of Russian Aeroflot Airliners and Military Helicopters and Aircraft.

SALE!! Very highly detailed and well molded kit from the 1970s. From original Bandai molds. Builds up a rolling chassis just like the real vehicle. Features detailed engine with ignition wiring, full engine compartment with hoses and wiring, removable hood, full suspension, driveline and exhaust detail, steerable wheels, complete interior (down to the speedometer cable and individual clutch, brake and accelerator pedals and levers, a large sheet of micro wood trim so that the wooden parts of the kit can be accurately represented with in-scale wood grain, opening rear cargo doors, full van interior, opening passenger and driver doors, flexible fuel lines, headlight wiring, choice of decals and much more. Molded in gloss black, gloss ivory, brass plate, wood tan, clear, green tinted clear (sunshade) and with real rubber tires, rubber wires and cables, small metal parts and details and a sheet of precut in-scale grain wood. Likely the second issue of this kit from Lindberg. From the late 1950s with Ray Gaedke artwork. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'.
