Jo-Han 1960 Desoto Adventurer Two Door Hardtop, 1/25, C4460

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

The long, low lines and graceful fins stretching from the "A" pillar to the taillights made for a beautiful Desoto. Sales in 1960 lagged, however. It was not that the car was bad - the cars were reliable and stunning performers. Desoto was more the victim of corporate political infighting than anything else. The 1960s were the last full line, with a brief introduction of two Desoto Automobiles in 1961. Since Desoto cars were still in demand, some dealerships even sued the Chrysler Corporation for discontinuing the line. This model is very well molded and detailed. It features full engine and detailed compartment, opening hood, full interior, spotlight, gearshift/turn signal/tach assembly, seat belts and side view mirrors. Molded in a very light tan (or dark ivory), clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate parts and rubber tires. Chrome and clear are in 'excellent+' condition. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one small and minor part, the 'bag' for windshield washer fluid. Otherwise complete with all other parts and instructions.

FM Nord 1500 Griffon II, 1/72, 7201

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Still factory sealed and rare model of this unusual Mach 2+ ramjet/turbojet design. The kit is injection molded with fine recessed panel lines, photoetched parts, resin details, metal landing gear and full decals. The Griffon was duel propulsion like the Leduc 022; a turbojet was used for takeoff and got the airplane to speed, where the ramjet took over. The Griffon performed well, reaching a top speed of Mach 2.19 in 1958. Heat limited on airframe materials limited the top speed. However, there were difficulties with the ramjet design and large fuel consumption. The program was canceled in favor of the Mirage family of fighters by Dassault.

The XB-47 first flew in 1947. The big jet's speed was equal to or greater than all current fighter aircraft, so it received radar-controlled twin 20mm cannons in the tail as the only guns. Through the use of mid-air refueling, the B-47 gave SAC it's first all-jet force for nuclear or regular bomb delivery. Although it was tricky to fly, Stratojets flew into the mid 1960s. A program to strengthen the wings for low-level attack was responsible for prolonging the service life.
