NOTE: this kit has been started with very neatly done sub-assembly as noted: rudder pedals, bare instrument panel back and gun sight to floor with 'near mint' assembly quality and 'very good' painting; cockpit side panels assembled & painted to 'near min' quality; firewall assembled to 'near mint' quality and 'very good' paint. There is no other assembly and painting. Inventoried and many parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the trees that are not factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Mid 1960s softbox issue with Ray Gaedke artwork. NOTE: perfect builder kit only, not collectible. Please read carefully for the condition. This model has many operating features- detailed engines with removable cowls, retracting landing gear, movable control surfaces, full crew and more. NOTE: this kit has very neat and minor assembly. The two fuselage halves and wing halves have been very neatly tacked together at a few tiny points. The pilot is glued to the seat. There is one dot of glue on the fuselage but that is all. The actual aircraft has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Please NOTE that the display stand is missing. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. Rare 'Big Box' issue of this Cleveland 'SF' or 'Scale Flying' model in museum scale of 1/16. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features numerous sheets of very high quality balsa printwood, factory cut strip wood and spars, drilled and recessed engine front nacelles, fully formed nose and main wheels, all required balsa blocks, dowels for gear struts, other stock material as required, clear canopy material, two sheets of color US insignia, hardwood dual thrust button kit, covering material and CD's famous highest quality plans. The model has not been started. The parts are inventoried complete with all paperwork included. There is brown packing tape on the box top as shown. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.
