Revell A3J (A-5A) Vigilante Nuclear Bomber, 1/83, H196-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

Sold

An investment-grade example of the last "S" kit issued by Revell. The hardbox is dated 1959 and has perfect gloss and color. All four corners are solid, there is no tape (other than the factory sealing tape), no fading, no stains, no creases, rips, tears or missing litho and no repairs. The only significant flaw is a "Peers" price tag on the right short side. The model kit features opening tandem canopies, moving control surfaces, detailed, removable jet engines and two pilots. As the last "S" kit, this kit also incorporated a critical improvement for the time that would become standard by the 1990s: all recessed detail. The entire kit has recessed panel lines and rivet detail-no raised marks. It has an attention to detail that is lacking in many older Pre-S and S kits. Molded in the correct gloss light gray and clear with the "Globe" clear stand. Never started. Inside the kit is exactly as it left the factory. All parts and even all the paperwork are still sealed in the factory clear internal bag.

Revell F9F-8 Cougar Pre 'S' Kit Issue - (F9F8), 1/52, H212-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

1954 Pre-S issue that features the fantastic box art that made these kits so famous and collectible. The box is in 'Excellent+' condition with factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no tape marks other than the factory sealing tape, no fading, no rips, tears, stains or missing litho. The flaws are a price tag still on the left side panel and very light general shelf wear as shown. All parts molded in gloss dark blue and clear, and it includes the famous Revell clear "Swivel Base Revelving Stand." Never started. Inside, the kit is like it left the factory. The small parts are still factory sealed in the small clear bag, while the ones that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. The decals and instructions are both in 'excellent' condition with the typical age yellowing as the main flaw. This kit has an interesting history. The first issue was in a simple and very thin one-piece box. Revell quickly learned that it was too fragile and converted to the two-piece box as it was much more durable. Furthermore, a much more attractive and attention-getting full-color lithographed 'slick' could be used. In addition to the box change for the second issue, Revell added rivet and very fine raised panel line detail as well as landing gear and the famous clear Revell 'Globe' stand. The second issue had the single-piece clear stand arm and instructions showing it. This arm proved to be very weak and prone to break at the worst point - when young Johnny was done and ready to proudly display his work. For the third issue (this kit), Revell changed to the much more durable two piece stand arm with instructions reflecting that, but everything else remained the same.
