Revell Air Power CBS Gift Set F-100C F-101A F-102 F-89D B-57B With S Cement - 'S' Issue, G240-495

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$795

1956 first and only issue in remarkable condition inside and out - the finest I have ever seen. The box top is in 'Excellent++' condition. It has factory-new color and gloss, no creases, fading, stains, holes or tears. There are no price tags, no tag marks and no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape of course). There are no marks from the decorative ribbon Revell shipped them with, which is very rare. Flaws include: light and isolated general wear, some edge and corner wear and two old original store stamped prices (discounts) on the left short panel that have been neatly blacked out. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory and contains a colorful, factory-sealed tube of Revell S Cement, all five aircraft models with the two correct dividers. All five kits are still in the factory sealed clear bags. The tray (lower box) is in 'excellent' condition. All kits contain the famous Revell clear 'Globe' stand. It would be difficult to find a better example of this kit, especially since there is no ribbon stain on the box top.

Revell USS Norton Sound Rocket Launcher Missile Test Ship, 1/424, H331-169

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$550

Fresh from a long-closed down hobby shop. Very rare kit from 1956; the molds were altered to make the class seaplane tender, which made any reissue impossible. The box has wonderful color and gloss, four solid corners, no creases, no fading, rips or tears, no stains, no price tag or tag marks and no tape or tape marks - this box even escaped the factory tape sealing machine! There is very light general wear and moderate wear to the lower right short side for 1" by 1/16". The prototype Norton Sound was originally a seaplane tender and was converted to an ocean-going laboratory for development and testing of guided missiles and rockets. This ship was key in the Navy's move into the guided missile age. The model features working cranes, operating launching platform for the Viking missile, Terrier with launcher, Jeeps and Lark missile. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts and decals are still factory sealed in the Revell clear bag. The larger parts were never sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes flag sheet and instructions. Instructions are in 'near mint' condition with the typical age yellowing as the only flaw. Decals are still factory sealed and would grade the same as the instructions.

Revell USS Helena Picture Fleet Issue - (Los Angeles - Fall River - Baltimore - Pittsburg - Columbus - Bremerton - Canberra - Toledo - Quincy - Chicago - St. Paul - Macon - Boston) - Picture Fleet / Master Modelers Club Issue, 1/481, H370-169

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$169

Very rare. This is the original hardbox issue USS Helena from 1960 and not the 1990s reissue. It has the beautiful John Steel painting suitable for framing. The kit contains decals to build any of these sister ships - Los Angeles - Fall River - Baltimore - Pittsburg - Columbus - Bremerton - Canberra - Toledo - Quincy - Chicago - St. Paul - Macon - Boston. It is molded in the correct glossy gray plastic for this early issue. The kit has never been started. It is factory new inside, with all the parts and all paperwork still inside the Revell factory sealed clear bag.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM-

$245

Rare. 1957 first and only issue of this important test vehicle for studying re-entry of ICBM warheads. The box is in investment-grade 'Near Mint-' condition. It has factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no creases, stains or tears, no missing litho, and no price tags or tape (other than the factory sealing tape, of course). The only flaws are light general wear as shown. Features nicely detailed missile with three stage that can be separated, launch pad, crew and tracking instruments. Molded in olive drab and white plastic. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition with light age yellowing as the only flaws.

Molded in the correct glossy red plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions present. The hardware set is still factory sealed. Carl Goldberg was a gifted designer of model aircraft, and his career spanned the evolution of flying models. His designs and number of titles won in competition at the Nationals is legendary. His first competition was the 1928 Nationals, where he received honorable mention. By 1934 he won the indoor Nats and in 1935 he opened a Hobby Shop, among the first in the nation (the first one was probably opened by Cleveland Models Ed Packard). Awards came quickly. He wrote articles for Model Airplane News, and was Comet's top designer from 1939 till 1945. After Comet, he worked with Mike Schlesinger and Sid Axelrod on what eventually became Top-Flite Models. In 1955 he founded Carl Goldberg Models and released a still-popular line of scale, rubber, gas, glider and RC models. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Hudson Miniatures 1914 Stutz Bearcat Old Timers, 1/16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$85

Well detailed, large 1/16 scale kit from 1949. Features plastic wheels, grill, steering wheel, lights and other accessories, wooden and metal main parts and some die-cut cardstock parts as well. Although all of Hudson's 1/16 kits have excellent detail, this one has even more detail than usual thanks to Hudson's engineers having access to the actual car. The instructions even warn that this kit will take more time than usual due to the 'tedious detail.' This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, plans and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved not to be a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own all-plastic, small-scale competition called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits.' The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Additionally, sales of the excellent wooden kits faltered further in the next few years with the introduction of accurate, 1/24 and 1/32 all-plastic cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue the wood kits and the plastic line was sold to Revell and subsequently re-released. Today, these excellent, big 1/16 kits are often the only model available of these early automobiles. In the mid 1960s Aurora thought so highly of Hudson Miniatures that they purchased the wood kit assets and released a very small number of these in all-plastic models.

DIY 1927 Bugatti, 77792

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$22

Wood kit that is probably imported from Hong Kong or similar in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Large - measures 15 inches long when assembled. All parts are hardwood and cut to shape; the spoke wheels are factory assembled while you built all the rest. Although it is a nice kit (the plans show the completed model), I would describe it as 'semi-scale.' The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete and includes illustrated instructions.
