Esoteric N3N-1 / 3 Yellow Peril, 1/72, NAF-19

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed

Sold

Although the N3N looked similar to many biplanes of the day, it was a revolutionary design for the mid 1930s. The sturdy all metal construction allowed it to meet the '25 year service' requirement. In reality the aircraft served in the Navy up to 1961! It was the first aircraft soloed by thousands of naval aviators and many still continue to fly in civil service. It was designed and built by the government owned Naval Aircraft Factory at Philadelphia. Very high quality kit with metal parts and full decals. The molding quality rivals or surpasses most injection molded kits. Includes full interior detail. Never started. The small parts are still sealed in the factory bags; the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete, with decals and instructions.

Guillows Sopwith Camel - 28 inch Wingspan Flying Model, 801

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good-

Sold

Still factory sealed. Big-scale kit can be built for static display or flown .049 to .15 U-Control, gas free flight or rubber power. Features quality die-cut balsa parts and stripwood, scale wheels and flexible landing gear, movable ailerons, rudder and elevator, plastic cowl and cockpit deck, scale prop, two machine guns, pilot figure, very large full color decals, covering material and more. Includes full size detailed plans. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
