Academy Boeing B-17D Swoose Flying Fortress, 1/72, 1683

Beautiful model of the early Fortress 'Swoose' that lead an exciting career as a transport aircraft after serving as a bomber in the South Pacific. The aircraft survived the war, the only 'D' Fortress to do so and is being restored in Dayton OH by the Air Force Museum. Features excellent cockpit detail, optional position landing gear, rotating props and wheels and more. The kit has never been started. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Anigrand Antonov A-40 KT Flying Tank, 1/72, AA2045

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Includes both the tank and aircraft built around it. Very highly detailed and beautifully molded in high definition resin. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Antonov flying tank did reach the prototype state and flew. It was a large glider built around a tank; the goal was to be able to deliver tanks to the front line in very quickly and without truck or rail transport. The design did fly with a light tank and the flight was successful with a good landing. However, the armament was removed for the test to save weight. The pilot said that the craft handled well but did not think that the test would be successful with a fully armed tank; and besides, the tank needed at the front was not a light tank but the much heavier T-34; so the project was abandoned.
