MAF Leduc 022, 1/92, 57a

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++++

Sold

Very rare. One of the holy grails of experimental kits. Box is in fantastic condition and the kit is complete and never started. The complete name of the manufacture was Maquettes d'Avions Francais (MAF). They only issued two kits in the mid 1960s. This is the version with working landing gear and grey plastic. There are many additional documents inside on the 022, the final development of Rene Leduc's 1950s experiments with RamJet Power. The first experimental were the un-powered 010; these were the first aircraft to fly on ramjet power alone. Several accidentally later, the program still showed promise so larger aircraft were built: the 021 and 022. The 021s completed their tests, and the unique 022 then flew 141 times. It has a centrally mounted turbo jet so it could take off on it's own power; 021 and 010 were carried aloft by a mother ship (Se-161). The turbojet in the 022 would accelerate it to ramjet operation speed. Fuel was stored in the round fuselage, but the ramjet consumed fuel so quickly that you had 10 minutes at full power. The program was cancelled in 1958 and Rene Leduc did not build further aircraft.

KVZ Lufthansa Turbinen Baade 152 Airliner, 1/100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

This is an aircraft with a very interesting history. In 1952, German Aircraft Engineers (some from Junkers) working in Russia had developed a design for a twin engine bomber known as 150. The engineers were returned to what was now East Germany, and headed by former Junkers designer Brunolf Baade, they designed the 152. Initially the Soviets showed interest, as did other Warsaw Pact countries. The program suffered early on from economic and material issues. The delay resulted in 152 V1 rolling out in 1958. During the second test flight, the crashed about 3 miles short of the runway, killing all on board. The cause for the crash was never released. The next two prototypes were completed with modifications and the second one flew. By this time (1961) the Russians and other Pact countries showed no interest, and the program was halted. This was the end of all GDR aircraft construction. The kit has never been started. The factory paint on the model is in excellent condition. The kit is complete except for one tip tank. The other one is present; you will need to cast one in resin or make one from scratch. Decals and instructions are present and in very good condition.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed

Commander of the Ursula, Lt. Cdr. Phillips, was on patrol in the estuary of the Elbe when he sighted a Koln class cruiser with 6 escorts. The waters were shallow and diving was dangerous. Regardless, Phillips dove and moved into attack position. At periscope depth, he found himself inside the screen and at point-blank range. He fired a 6 shot spread; his boat was immediately shaken by severe explosions. The Lepzig and one escort sank immediately. The German DDs counterattacked and Phillips went as deep as he could. By skillful maneuvering, he brought the Ursula through safely. He was awarded the DSO for his feats. Kit is still factory sealed.

Ideal Aeroplane & Supply SC-1 WWI 110' Submarine Chaser, 1/66

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1930/40s kit from the famous Ideal Aeroplane & Supply Company. Wooden precarved hull with wooden parts and metal fitting. With full detailed plans. During WWI the American Navy and it's Allies needed a ship to combat the U-Boat menace and they needed it fast. The response was the SC-1 Sub Chaser class. Built of wood and designed as ocean-going vessels, they were made to take the war to the enemy. Speed was about 14 kts and they were equiped with deck guns, machine guns and depth charges. Never started and 100% complete. The insides are absolutely mint and untouched; I was the first person to remove the parts for an inventory and repacked it exactly as it came. Box says '24 inch Model' on the side, but I measured the hull at 20 inches, which gives a true scale of 1/66.
