Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Allyn Douglas F4D Skyray - Factory Desktop Model In The Original Box

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Incredibly rare, 1950s NOS Allyn F4D Skyray factory model untouched and still in the original factory shipping box. Inside, all of the factory cardboard and tissue are still intact. The stand is still in the factory wrapping for protection and it has never been removed. This model has always been boxed and never displayed; it is from the estate of a very particular collector. This model is when Topping had gone to the clear 'swivel' stand. They are nice because you can position the aircraft in any attitude that you desire and it will stay there. While never used, please note that these models never left the factory in 'flawless' condition. There were always minor paint flaws and minor molding flaws as they were mass-produced. Furthermore, the canopies and decals inevitably have some yellowing, and this on is no exception as you can see. Because the original Allyn box adds significantly to the value, it will be carefully packed into another box for shipping. Shipping insurance is required. Please NOTE: I have listed this as Allyn because of the stand, which is factory installed to the model.

Allyn Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark - Factory Desktop Model

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

Sold

Factory assembled display model that manufacturers would order from Allyn then give to contractors, test pilots, Navy decision makers and more. Includes the original Allyn stand and stand arm. The color and gloss of the blue plastic is excellent as are most decals; the propeller blades are excellent and have never been broken or repaired. The model displays very well as shown; however, the model is not perfect. At some point the nose was off the model, and there are some glue marks from the repair; the glue is hard to see in the photos but can be seen when you get up close to the model. The most obvious flaw is a small chunk of plastic missing on the right side just below and aft of the nose 'Skyshark' decal. The missing section is approximately 1/2 inch long and 1/8 of an inch wide at the bottom and 1/16 wide at the middle. There a section missing on the bottom edge of the stand as shown; it looks neatly, like it was done at the factory, but I still believe it is a missing section.

Life-Like Monitor and Merrimac - (ex Pyro Molds), 09257

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

Sold

Still factory sealed. The Monitor is 10 inches long and the Merrimac is 11 inches long when built. These are not the Lindberg kits but are from the original Pyro molds and have superior detail to the Lindberg issues. The Monitor and Merrimac are the two American Civil War ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the St. James. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.
