Sterling Stinson SR-8 Reliant Gull Wing - 31 inch Wingspan for R/C, 1/16, E8

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

Big scale kit with a 31 3/8 inch wingspan. Designed for RC, CO2, free flight, control line or non-flying detailed scale kit. Although the box has wear, the kit is like new inside. It has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag, and all parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. With 'excellent' condition decal and large, detailed plan set with instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line.

Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that lowers the landing gear before the model lands. Can be flown with rubber, electric or gas control line or converted to RC with modern lightweight systems. Features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic full engine cowl, pilot bust and other details, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of full color decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, the vacuform canopy. Otherwise includes all other parts, decals and plans. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag. NOTE: decals have a stain on two 'stars and bars' decals. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Comet Taylorcraft - 54 inch Wingspan Flying Model for RC, 3505-300

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

1970s very large scale kit with 54 inch wingspan. For rubber or gas free flight or RC (radio control). This is a reissue of a much older Comet kit. Features traditional wood/tissue construction with high-quality balsa pre-cut stringers and spars, balsa printwood, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, rubber, tissue, prop shaft and wooden thrust bearing and a big balsa pre-carved (but not completely finished) propeller. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Please note that the box is complete but has stains and wear as shown. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Aurora North American B-70 Valkyrie Bomber (XB-70A), 1/105, 370-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM+

Sold

Still factory sealed and in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint+' condition. The seal is intact. The only flaw is a very hard to see 1.3" crease at the upper left corner. You must look hard to find it. First issue hardbox from 1962. This box has, in my opinion, some of the best Jack Leynnwood box art. Jack primarily did Revell artwork, but since he was freelance, he did others as well. At this point, the XB-70 was planned for production, so the kit is called the B-70 and the artwork shows a winter night-time quick turn around of a SAC B-70 while another Valkyrie roars overhead after takeoff. The box is in excellent condition with very little wear, four solid corners, no repairs, stains, price tag or tape/tape marks. Very large kit with 6 detailed General Electric J93-3 engines, landing gear and clear canopy.

Aurora Focke-Wulf FW-190, 1/47, 30-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

Dated 1960. Hardbox release of the classic Aurora kit. Notice the 'Sunburst' logo with no 'Famous Fighters' in the oval, which dates this kit closer to the mid 1960s. Molded in black and clear with the clear triangular 'globe' display stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions both in 'excellent' condition. Please NOTE that the box displays much better than the 'fair++' grade. It is graded that low because the top long side panel has numerous light stains. There is also general wear at the very top edge of the box top, but the side panel stains are worse.

Aurora B-25 Mitchell Screwdriver Kit, 1/32, 397-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very rare. 1968 hardbox has spectacular artwork. This model was designed for Gas Engine U-Control and issued both ways. This is the static model that is molded in olive drab, black, clear and with metal hardware. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The box has nice color and gloss, but is only graded 'good+' because there is substantial general wear as shown. The right short and upper long side panels have slight fading also and all side panels have slightly more wear than the box top.

Aurora Convair B-36 Peacemaker Giant Bomber, 1/333, 492-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Copyright dated 1961 hardbox with fantastic Jo Kotula artwork. This kit dates closer to the mid 1960s due to the 50 cent price extension and the lack 'Famous Fighters' in the logo border. Box has good gloss and color but very heavy edge wear on the right side as shown, and a closed tear on the short right side panel. Features rotating props, full landing gear, auxiliary jet engines, clear canopy and nose and the Aurora 'Triangle World' clear stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora North American F-100 Super Sabre, 1/103, 490-70

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

Dated 1961 with the great Jim Cox artwork that makes early Aurora kits so collectible. This issue has a slightly larger box than earlier ones. It is a nicely done kit for that time, molded in silver and clear with full landing gear and clear 'Triangle World Map' stand. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Please note, this is not a reissue of the Comet model. Aurora cut these molds years before acquiring Comet's F-100. Since this kit does not have 'Famous Fighters' in the oval logo border and has a 70 cent price extension, it is most likely from the late 1960s and not the artwork copyright date of 1961.

Aurora F-100 Super Sabre - (ex Comet), 1/103, 289-39

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Aurora F-101 Voodoo, 1/136, 294-39

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Dated 1958 but the 39 cent suffix and logo make it from the very early 1960s. This is a nice, small-scale kit that features a clear canopy, complete landing gear, display stand and decals for 'FB-419.' Molded in silver and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes 'near mint' condition decals and instructions.

Aurora Republic F-84 Thunderstreak, 1/80, 299-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Aurora of Canada issue dated 1964. This is from ex-Comet molds and includes the modified ex-Comet 'teardrop' stand as well. Aurora Lockheed F-104 Starfighter - (ex Comet), 1/110, 291-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very rare 1964 Aurora of Canada hardbox issue of the ex-Comet kit. Several small-scale Comet molds (including the F-104, B-47 and B-52) were never reissued for the USA market and for decades I have wondered what happened to them. Aurora had no need for them, as they had already cut their own (superior) small-scale molds for those subjects. Well, the ex-Comet molds went to Aurora of Canada! The slightly less detailed Comet kits were issued there using the same box art as their slightly more detailed Aurora USA counterparts. Simply looking at the box top, you could not tell the difference. However, the contents and instructions gives the secret away. Molded in silver and clear and still retains the original Comet 'teardrop' shaped two-piece stand. Naturally the instructions are completely unique since this is a completely different kit from the Aurora USA Starfighter. This model is 100% correct and has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Boeing B-52 Stratofortress - (ex Comet), 1/317, 2494-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Very rare issue dated 1964. This is the seldom seen Aurora reissue of the Comet kit for the Canadian market only. Several small-scale Comet molds were never reissued for the USA market and for decades I have wondered what happened to them. Aurora had no need for them, as they had already cut their own (superior) small-scale molds for most of those subjects, including the B-52 and B-47. Well, the ex-Comet molds went to Aurora Canada! The small, less detailed Comet kits were issued there using the same box art as their slightly larger and more detailed Aurora counterparts in the USA. Simply looking at the box top, you could not tell the difference. However, the four digit part number gives it away as do the contents. Molded in silver and clear and still retains the original Comet 'teardrop' shaped two-piece stand. Naturally the instructions are completely unique since this is a different kit from the Aurora USA B-52. This kit is 100% correct and has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
