ODK Nakajima J1N1 Gekko Irving, 1/55, 100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

ODK was the logo used by Odaka Sangyo. Odaka began plastic model kit production in early 1960, but all production stopped by 1965. The Irving was their first kit; however, this issue is likely the final issue given the more realistic box art. Molded in silver, black and clear plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The box says this is one of "Odaka's Double Engine Aircraft Series" and ODK says the scale is 1/55. The long top box end shows four other kits with the artwork - all for the final release of each. They include Ki-45 Nick, XP-50, P-38 and Me-110.

Aurora TFX F-111B Navy Fighter Bomber - (Navy F-111 Prototype), 1/48, 369-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Dated 1966. This is the only 1/48 scale kit of the Navy version. The TFX Project was proposed as a way to save money by having the Air Force and Navy use the same aircraft. The F-111B was tested by the Navy but canceled due to the large size of the aircraft. This was a good kit for that time with all the proper Navy -B variant changes, swing wings, correctly retractable landing gear with working doors, 'good' cockpit, crew of two and more. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the two tail numbers are missing from the Aurora decal sheet, so I have included an excellent reproduction decal sheet. This sheet has all the original markings and the missing numbers and is printed on clear and white decal paper. Instructions for the reproduction decals are included.

Revell HMS Beagle Historic Sailing Barque - Charles Darwin's Ship - Master Modeler Issue, 1/110, H330-298

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1961 issue with fantastic framable John Steel artwork and a Master Modeler Stamp of this kit. Even includes the original booklet "The Voyage Of The HMS Beagle." This is a very well detailed model that measures 40 cm long when built (~16 inches). As with earlier Revell sailing ship kits, the moldings are fine and to scale. Includes rigging cord, preformed rat lines, vac billowing sails, colorful flag sheet and rigging instructions. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The vac sails are in 'average' condition. There is general wear and one sail has three small holes in it.

Revell SMS Seeadler (Sea Eagle) German WWI Commerce Raider, 1/232, H382-298

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare 1960 hardbox first issue with great John Steel artwork. This ship is a fascinating subject -the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. Revell includes a full page history of the ship, a copy of a letter from Count Luckner and a map showing the voyage and ships sunk. Well detailed for that time. Full hull model is molded in gray, brown and black and includes rigging thread and full rigging instructions. It has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and includes flags and instructions. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.
