Pyro Jersey Bounce - 1925 Ford T Street Rod, 1/32, C302-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare model 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. For some reason the Jersey Bounce has always been scarce; either were were all built or sold poorly. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. Features detailed custom-dropped frame and suspension & driveline, Chevy 282 V-8 small-block motor with a GMC 6-71 Blower, complete cuistom interior and more. Molded in a bright burgendy with clear windshield and light lenses. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The box has bug damage to the litho as shown at the left, top left and lower right corner. Decals have bug damage to the backing paper only; the actual transfers have no damage.

Aurora SSN Skipjack Atomic Sub, 1/228, 711-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

1962 hardbox issue with what is probably John Steel artwork. This was a good model for that time featuring full hull, display stand, working diving planes rotating propeller, working upper and lower rudders, detailed atomic reactor, removable reactor hatch and more. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note there is a section of missing litho on the box top just to the left of the sail; that is why it is graded 'good-'.

MPC P-51B Mustang Shangri-La / KP IL-10 / Minicraft F4F-4 Wildcat / FOUR Revell Ju-87B/R Stuka, 1/72, 1-4008

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc to Good

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 7 kits in the boxes shown. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous and of his kits that I did inventory, 95% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: he sometimes built minor sub assemblies (cockpit tubs, wing halves, etc.) to 'professional' quality. He also almost always removed the display stands (if provided). Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.

Revell Convair R3Y-2 Tradewind - 'S' Issue - (R3Y2), 1/168, H238-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

First issue from 1956. Very colorful 'S' hardbox with great artwork. This model is very well molded for that time and features all recessed panel lines, opening front cargo door, rotating counter-rotating propellers and more. Molded in dark sea blue and includes the famous clear Revell 'Globe' display stand. Never started. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing one piece, the stub nose on the very front of the forward cargo door. Otherwise complete with all other parts and includes decals and instructions. In 1945 the US Navy asked Convair to develop a large flying boat based on the new World War II technology and the developing turbo-prop engines. Convair's proposal was the Model 117. high-wing flying boat with Allison T40 engines driving six-bladed contra-rotating propellers. The design has a slender body, high-mounted high lift wing and fixed floats. The Navy was impressed enough to order two prototypes in May of 1946. The first prototype was designated XP5Y-1 and first flew off San Diego on April 18, 1950. In August the aircraft set a turboprop endurance record of eight hours six minutes. Although impressed with the design, the Navy decided not to build the patrol version and decided to make her into a passenger and cargo aircraft. A total of eleven aircraft were built. The first two prototypes built were in P5Y configuration, armed with 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of munitions (bombs, mines, depth charges, torpedoes) and five pairs of 20 mm cannon in fore and aft side emplacements and a tail turret. The next five were built as R3Y-1 aircraft, intended for troop transport and inflight tanker service. The final six were built as the R3Y-2 variant with a upward-hinged nose and high cockpit for heavy roll-on-roll-off transport duties. In this way it was thought the design would function as a 'Flying LST.' In practice, it was discovered that it was almost impossible for the pilots to hold the aircraft nose-on to the beach while it was unloaded. These were subsequently converted into inflight refueling tankers. However, they had a short life because of the unsolvable reliability problems that plagued the Allison T40 turboprop engines. That fate befell most of the T40-powered aircraft, like the Douglas A2D Skyshark.

Jo-Han 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car, 1/25, GC-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Chrysler had long labored to produce an efficient turbine for automobile use. The fourth such engine operated on almost any fuel oil- jet fuel, vegetable oil or tequila and turned 60,000 rpms developing 130 bhp. With this engine Chrysler felt certain that it was time to produce a practical test car, and the Turbine was designed. 55 were produced and 50 given to the public to test. The engine was simple - it had 60 moving parts instead of the usual 300 in a combustion engine - and naturally had no points or distributor. In practice, the car proved reliable and averaged only 4% downtime total - a low number for such a new application of technology. The main drawbacks were NO (nitrogen oxides), high exhaust temperatures, and poor fuel consumption of about 17 mpg. Chrysler was able to fix the last two, but the first one helped finish the program. In the future, Chrysler engineers would solve the NO problem, but it was too late. This model kits features opening hood, detailed engine and compartment, opening trunk, whitewall tires, opening doors, steerable wheels, coupe (2 door) body with opening doors, front seats that fold forward, detailed interior, full underside detail and much more. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.

About 90% of the damage is on the backing paper, while about 10% in on the actual decals. The instructions have no bug damage.

SMP 1961 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop - 3 in 1 Kit - Stock / Competition / Custom, 1/25, K721

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Very rare model dated late 1960/1961 from Scale Model Products. Nicely detailed and molded kit that features Chevrolet V-8 with 3x2 carbs or single carb with factory air cleaner, complete engine compartment, opening hood, full interior with optional roll bar, lowering blocks, bare wheels or choice of stock or custom hubcaps, detailed molded underside, custom fins, fender skirts, side exhaust, antennas, fender mirrors and spotlights, louvers, front end & grill, television, phone, reel-to-reel tape deck, continental kit and even a road-side billboard frame. Never started and inventoried complete with all car parts present and includes photocopied instructions. NOTE: missing the decals and the original instructions. There are light, easily repaired tire burn on the hood. Scale Model Products (SMP) was a major competitor to AMT during the late 1950s. SMP started the 'Annual' craze in 1958. However, AMT bought SMP around 1960/1961. AMT liked the SMP logo more than their own, and substituted their letters into it. It is not known exactly who invented the '3 In 1' kit, but many credit it to SMP.

Comet Stinson SR-7 With Detailed Plastic Cowl - 25 Inch Wingspan - Coke Bottle Issue, N26-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Includes a perfect scale cowl made of super light-weight white vacuformed plastic. The cowl has a very detailed engine front and all of the proper 'bumps' for valve rocker-arm clearance. Measures the correct diameter by the plans but may be a little long; that is easily fixed by trimming. The actual kit is a rare 1950s/early 1960s stick-and-tissue flying model. Features quality balsa printwood, factory-cut strip & spar stock, covering material and full plans. There is no assembly but NOTE: most parts have been cut out to 'professional' quality...better than any die-cutting could have done. As you know, this is an amazing advantage to the builder and an incredible time saver. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing one 'E' rib, which is easily made as the other 'E' ribs are present to use as a patter. Otherwise complete with all other parts and paperwork present. Oddly enough, the man who cut them out was one of Monogram's top Chief Designers. He designed and headed up the projects for the B-52, B-17, B-24J, Mosquito, Skyraider A-1E, Hurricane, Spitfire, P-40, at least one (if not all) of the 1/8 scale cars and many, many more. The entire Comet 1950s "N" line included the following (gaps mean there is no kit, at least at that time): N1 Tiger Shark P-40, N2 F-86D Sabre Jet, N4 Globe Swift, N6 Taylorcraft, N8 F-51 Mustang, N9 Helicopter, N11 Ryan Navion, N12 Firefly, N15 Piper Cub, N16 Fokker DVII, N17 Spad, N24 Phantom Fury, N25 Aeronca K (floats) and N26 Stinson SR-7. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
