OldModelKits SS Normandie Ocean Liner 1935, 1/350

This limited-run kit represents the Normandie from her 1935 maiden voyage to New York and has over 1,000 individual parts. The hull and larger parts are pressure-cast resin from de-aired molds. There is one very large photoetched brass sheet for railings, ladders & fine details, ultra-high definition 3D printed davits, three sheets of laser-cut, real wood printed decking (from ScaleDecks), decals, flag sheet and a DVD with detailed, highly illustrated instructions including painting guide, step-by-step rigging instructions and research material. Aurora 1913 Mercer Raceabout Old Timers, 1/16, 572-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

1961 issue. Done in a big 1/16 scale, this kit and the other 'Old Timers' in the series represented a significant leap forward in quality for Aurora. The kit features full suspension, transaxle and driveline detail. It builds up a rolling chassis like the real car, and includes full exhaust and a detailed interior. Molded in gloss ivory, gloss black and with chrome plated parts and real rubber tires. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The black and chrome parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The ivory and clear were never factory sealed and have been inventoried complete including the instructions. Aurora was renowned for turning a profit and for keeping expenses down. In researching new kit subjects, they came upon a forgotten jewel - the Hudson Miniatures line of 1/16 scale wooden kits. Hudson had discontinued this line due to lack of sales of wooden kits. But the Hudson models were second to none in quality, research and documentation. Aurora was quick to realize this and used the research and layout from these kits to create the subjects for this 'Old Timers' series. It is fortunate for us that they did, because in most cases this is the only injection molded kit of these rare and classic early automobiles.

$129

Very highly detailed and large scale resin kit. It has never been started. The parts are still in the internally sealed factory bags. Includes decals and instructions. In 1972, the U.S. Air Force issued the Advanced transport STOL transport program for a new medium airlifter that capable of operations into battle zones with short, temporary airfields. Two proposals were accepted for construction as the Boeing YC-14 and McDonnell Douglas YC-15 prototypes. The Boeing design for STOL performance was based on the use of a supercritical wing, developed by NASA that the high-speed airflow from the engines tended to cling to the upper surface of the wing/flap system and was thus directed downward to provide powered lift. It was the most efficient powered-lift system ever developed. The first flight of the YC-14 demonstrated superior STOL performance and low-speed maneuverability. However, by the time the YC-14 was ready for production, military priorities had changed. The Air Force decided it needed a larger transport that would fly to standard, conventional airfields rather than into battle zones. In 1979, the Air Force formally canceled the AMST program for both the YC-14 and the YC-15. As a result, the C-X program, the C-17 evolved.
