Aurora Curtiss Warhawk P-40 Flying Tiger, 1/48, 44-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

1958 issue with 'Famous Fighters' sunburst logo and Jo Kotula box art. I believe this is the 5th or 6th boxart variation of this kit (Brooklyn, Train, AL and the short-lived 'error box'). Either right before or after this issue is a box with the same artwork but with the aircraft in a descent and less of a close up - it actually shows two aircraft instead of one. Over the years, this 'close up' version has been slighter rarer than the other version. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Features spoked wheels, detailed chassis with separately molded front and rear suspension, complete motor and interior, trunk mounted spare and a 4 part hood that can be made closed (and removable) or in the open position hood. All parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete including the plans. Rogers was an early producer of miniature gas engines for free-flight and early radio control model kits and often had large adds for these engines in hobby magazines. The full company name on the box is listed as 'Rogers Motor Company Detroit Michigan' and the 'Scale Model Division' is listed as Tawas City, Michigan. Right near the end of WWII, Rogers made a very short journey into kit manufacturing. As you would expect from an engine manufacture, the kits were all highly prefabricated, had excellent detail and were fairly complicated. Rogers produced at least four kits - the M4 Sherman Tank, 40MM AA Gun and Carriage (1/16 scale), Army Weasel and LST. These kits were likely released in that order, with the LST first issued around late 1945/early 1946. I have seen several of these kits built and they make excellent displays.

Airmodel Blohm & Voss Bv-142 V2/U-1, 1/72, 347

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

The Bv-142 was developed as the land plane version of the graceful Ha-139 seaplane. With the prospect of war, the Luftwaffe evaluated the Bv-142 as a troop carrier or transport. The fuselage cross section was not suited for that work, but there was an interest in using the craft in maritime reconnaissance. In spite of promising trials, the FW-200 Condor was seen as superior and no further 142s were built. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.
