Revell USS Enterprise CV-6, 1/490, H378

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG-

Sold

1969 issue with fantastic box artwork. Kit is over 20 inches long and includes a one piece hull, SBD scout-bombers, moving cranes, detailed island structure, partial hanger decks where you can display aircraft, decals and flags. If you are curious, this kit is actually different from the Revell 1/490 CV-5 Yorktown kit of the same era. The differences include the bridge catwalk, island searchlight platforms, number of search lights, small boat configuration and radar. CV-6 has a combat record unequaled in history of the US Navy and is considered the most Successful Warship in History. Her totals were as follows: 20 Battle Stars, 911 Aircraft Destroyed and 71 Ships Sunk. She took part in almost every major action of the Pacific war from 1941 to 1945. The fascinating history of this ship is told by Commander Edward P. Stafford, USN, in his legendary book "The Big E - The Story of the USS Enterprise."

Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box- in this case, the Silver Ghost was in the Lord Montago Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated parts, very light blue/gray injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet'. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.

Pyro Monitor and Merrimac, C257-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

From original Pyro molds. Great hardbox artwork by AJ Rudisill from the late 50s or early 1960s. The two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862. The Monitor is 10 inches long and the Merrimac is 11 inches long when built. Both are full hull models and include display stands. Never started. The Monitor is still in the factory sealed bag. The Merrimac has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Although dated, these kits are generally considered superior to the Lindberg issues of the same ships.
