Bagged kit, no box. Never started and complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Perfect builder. This collector stored this and all of his kits in bags because of limited storage space. He was very precise; the canopy is bagged separate to prevent scratching, the small parts are in a zip lock for protection and then put into a larger sealed bag with the bigger parts and instructions. Decals are excellent. The kit and instructions are from 1988 with the parts molded in glossy dark blue and black; the decals are for the Confederate Air Force. Kit features folding wings, retractable landing gear, pilot figure and rotating prop and wheels.
Lindberg Monitor and Merrimac Motorized, 717M-198

First issue from the 1950s with Ray Gaedke box art. The Merrimac was motorized by Lindberg - the Monitor was never motorized. The Merrimac measures just over 12 inches long and the Monitor measures 8.25 inches long. The kits have never been started. Both ship kits have been inventoried with all plastic parts, motorizing parts and motor present. Instructions are present with a split seam and closed tear. NOTE: the paper flags are missing. The two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.

The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. Early 1970s Aurora of Canada issue in the 'Big A' box. Large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. This is a very nice model from Aurora's efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that the 1950s kits were outclassed by the mid 60s and cut a new series of molds including several ships, helos and subs. The result was very good mold quality and detail. Includes large display stand molded in wood brown, decals, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower and deck guns. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

From the early 1960s. Fantastic Cold-War artwork on this early issue. The Ethan Allen was the lead submarine of her class. These George Washington Class replacements had 16 tubes as before, but could carry the Polaris A-1, A-2 and A-3. Classic large (24" long) SSBN kit actual 'fires' Polaris Missiles from a spring-loaded hull launch tube. Highly detailed for that time and well molded. Starboard hull halve hinges down to reveal full interior detail for each compartment. The kit has never been started.
