Pyro 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost - Bagged, 1/32, C456

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

Sold

Bagged kit - no box. The box is shown for reference only. 1967 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box- in this case, the Silver Ghost was in the Lord Montago Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated parts, very light blue/gray injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet'. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.

Pyro Monitor and Merrimac, C257-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

From original Pyro molds. Great hardbox artwork by AJ Rudisill from the late 50s or early 1960s. The two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862. The Monitor is 10 inches long and the Merrimac is 11 inches long when built. Both are full hull models and include display stands. Never started. The Monitor is still in the factory sealed bag. The Merrimac has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Although dated, these kits are generally considered superior to the Lindberg issues of the same ships.

Aurora Lockheed F-90 Brooklyn - Famous Fighters Of All Nations, 1/48, 33-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++++

Sold

Very rare and correct Brooklyn issue. This is the second issue of this kit - the first was in a rather plain flip-top box. This Brooklyn hardbox is in exceptional condition. Gloss and color are like new and all four corners are solid. Inside, the kit is 100% correct for this issue. It is molded in gray and does not have landing gear or missiles. Decals and instructions are correct as well as the early clear rectangular stand. Even the original tissue is included. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. When Aurora issued it's first two plastic kits, they were copies of the Hawk Model Company's F9F and F-90 fighters. Reportedly, Hawk was not happy about this and there were some words exchanged at some hobby trade shows. Hawk attempted to hide it's name - one example was using rivets to spell H-A-W-K in morse code to prevent further use of it's designs. Fortunately, the incident was not repeated.

Aurora Curtiss SBC-3 Helldiver, 1/48, 117-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Rare still factory sealed kit dated 1961 but likely from around 1963/64. The model is in investment grade condition and as just as it left the Aurora shipping box. The seal is still mint. The hardbox is in fantastic condition with like-new color and gloss. The date of 1961 is a bit early since this model does not have the 'sunburst' in the logo or the 'Famous Fighters' in the border. The kit has movable control surfaces and excellent detail for that time.
