Hasegawa Boeing B-47E Stratojet - USAF SAC, 1/72, JS-23

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$64

Older and well detailed with fine raised fine panel lines, cockpit, optional opened or closed bomb bay doors, internal iron bomb load, tail "stinger", detailed landing gear and gear wells and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays slightly better than the grade. It is rated as such because there are short pieces of masking tape one each side. The B-47 was a very advanced aircraft at the time. The XB-47 first flew in 1947. The big jet's speed was equal to or greater than all current fighter aircraft, so it received radar-controlled twin 20mm cannons in the tail as the only guns. Through the use of mid-air refueling, the B-47 gave SAC it's first all-jet force for nuclear or regular bomb delivery. Although it was tricky to fly, Stratojets flew into the mid 1960s. A program to strengthen the wings for low-level attack was responsible for prolonging the service life.

$125

First issue dated 1956 with the incredible artwork that has made these kits so famous and valuable. The box is in amazing "Near Mint-" condition with perfect color and gloss. The only things keeping it from being mint are a tiny crease at the lower left (not even visible in the photo) and short, closed tears on the long box sides at the factory sealing tape. Features folding wings and horizontal stabilizer, rotating and elevating rear gun turret, optional position landing gear, speed brakes & escape hatch, three crew figures and more. Includes the famous clear Revell 'Globe' stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Hobby Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 - Soviet Rocket Fighter - Bagged, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$19

Limited run Russian model injection molded in brown plastic and with an injection molded clear canopy. There is little flash and fine raised and recessed detail. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Please note that the kit did not come with decals and the instructions are inside the header. 'BI' stood for Blizhnii Istrebitel, which was 'close-range fighter' in Russian. Obviously, it also stood for the last names of the designers. The program was the Soviet Union's effort to produce a low cost rocket interceptor. The airplane flew and flew well, but it was plagued by engine issues, corrosion from nitric acid, and eventually tail flutter at high speeds that caused the loss of the most experienced test pilot, Grigory Yakovlevich Bakhchivandzhi. The early development started in 1938, with the first flights in 1940. The aircraft underwent a series of engine improvements and was still testing through 1945. The aircraft never entered series production. Bi-1 through BI-9 were built.

It has been inventoried 100% complete. Decals and instructions are both in incredible 'Near Mint+' condition. Please NOTE that the vertical stabilizer tips on this kit were incredibly thin and fragile and often the tips (about 3 to 4mm) would break off in shipping. Revell 1907 Renault Limousine Highway Pioneers - Series Four, 1/32, H53-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+++

$39

1953 early issue molded in gloss dark brown plastic. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo on the side. The model has not been started. The parts are still sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag and the kit is complete with instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.
