Guillows Bristol Bullet - 18 inch Wingspan Rubber Powered Balsa Wood Kit, WW-7

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

NOTE: builder only, please read carefully. One of a very popular line of World War 1 flying aircraft stick and tissue kits with 18 inch wingspans. Kit features scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, light vacuform nose cowl, die cut balsa parts, colored tissue, rubber motor and full decals. Includes full size detailed plans. The model has not been started. NOTE: missing 15 wing ribs. Fortunately, they are duplicated on the plans in full size so they are easy to make. Also missing 7 other even easier to make balsa parts. Inventoried with all other parts, full color decals, wheels, rubber motor, full size plans, engine/cowl, prop, prop shaft, thrust button, tissue and metal stock present. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Imai 1906 Mercedes-Benz Motorized - (ex-Bandai / Mercedes Benz), 1/16, 1-3407-998

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Very, very rare. From ex-Bandai molds. Highly detailed, large-scale model with RE-14 motor drive. Includes a novel, well-engineered and correctly hidden metal drive box with gears and transaxle for drive on both rear wheels. Bandai engineered this model so the drive belts and cogs move just like on the real car. The on/off system has been improved over the original Bandai system; the engine now operates from a hidden switch under the floorboard and the motor is reversed from a switch on the floor of the interior. The headlights also operate. The batteries are cleverly hidden under the front seat. Kit features detailed scale engine, removable hood, full frame and detailed underside, complete suspension, front wheels that can be turned, full interior, opening doors and more. To minimize or eliminate painting, Imai molded this kit in gloss white, red, gray, black, brown, clear, brass plate, nickel plate and with rubber tires, metal parts, flexible drive belts and more. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The glue is not present, and was probably never included.
