Aurora US Navy Sealab III, 721-400

Very rare first and only issue from 1969. A large and well detailed kit of this unique underwater habitat. Molded in tan (ocean base), orange/yellow and clear. The delicate clear part is in 'excellent' condition with scratches and minimal wear; it has been protected for shipping. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals has one of the 'AB' from LAB missing. The box displays much better than the 'good-' grade but it is graded as such due to light staining to the left short side of the box top and heavy staining to the right short side. Box bottom (tray) has some light staining also but not much. This kit must be shipped insured.

Revell was famous for the 'series' concept, and this 1969 issue includes both models. Older kits were put into boxes with dramatic new art and given series names such as this one, or 'Famous Artist' or 'Famous Aircraft' Series. The kit has never been started. Purchased new on December 3, 1966 at S.S. Kresge Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Very colorful box artwork issue and an excellent kit for that time. Nicely molded with separate ailerons, elevator and rudder. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo.

The fittings and many other parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the larger wooden parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete including plans/instructions.

Features factory assembled brass roof with open clerestory windows, car sides/ends, floor and interior seats, cast metal trucks, cast platforms, extensive brass and metal fittings, markings for Bangor & Aroostook, Baltimore & Ohio, Virginia & Truckee, Colorado Midland RY and Delaware & Bound Brook. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed (small fittings) are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions.

Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with high quality printwood, stripwood, wooden stock as required, fully formed wheels, covering tissue, prop and detailed full size plans/building instructions. The model has not been started. Inventoried complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Large scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork also. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, colorful insignia, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, hardware, tissue and propeller. 1960s or early 1970s issue of this superb flyer. This is one of the famous Carl Goldberg designs of a cabin-class competition endurance model. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware, pre-formed gear struts, clear window material, color insignia sheet, tissue, wheels, rubber and propeller. The kit has never been started and is complete. These aircraft were common in the 1930s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes reached it's zenith. It was not uncommon for these models to fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. NOTE: since this kit is sealed, I cannot tell if it contains the fittings kit or not. Earlier Scouts only had the fittings sold separately - later issues included the fittings. Unfortunately, I cannot tell.
