Topping Bell AH-1J SeaCobra, 1/32

Metal and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

So rare it is made from the element 'unobtanium.' Of course I'm kidding, but here is all I do know. The owner of this model was a professional builder who had full access to Topping and Precise stock; his collection includes numerous models from each manufacturer, but all in kit form. This very large AH-1J Seacobra measures very close to 1/32 (17.8 inches long) and is a traditional model that Topping or Precise would have made: resin body, metal turret and guns, metal skids, metal tail rotor, detailed rotor head and more. I have listed it as Topping because the tail rotor is identical (from the same molds) to the tail rotor on the Topping UH-1s. This may be a Topping prototype, as I can find no record of Topping making this (or Precise for that matter). From looking at AH-1Js on line, this model does appear to be complete, but for obvious reasons it is sold as is. Please view the photo showing all the parts. This is an excellent model with top-notch workmanship. The resin body is straight with no warping; all resin parts are the same way. The fuselage and blades/rotor head are perfectly primed. All metal castings are excellent. There appears to be a choice of chin turrets and guns.

Topping Bell HH-IK / UH-1B Huey, 1/32

Metal and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very, very rare. From a professional builder's collection. He lived in Ohio and had full access to Topping and Precise factory models and could obtain them unassembled (some unbuilt ones were even factory painted and decaled!). This model is from his estate. This is an original Topping molded in Army Olive Drab, clear and with a large number of cast metal parts . The rotor head assembly is a metal masterpiece of detail and quality. The model even includes a full set of Topping decals as shown. The kit is resin, injection molded plastic, cast metal and clear plastic. All parts are straight and is not warped. I have studied on-line photos of Topping-built UH-1s and I believe this model is 100% complete; but I cannot be sure so it is sold as-is. Factory built-ups do occasionally appear for sale (just a handful since the history of the internet), but I have never seen this model in kit form. NOTE: the fuselage halves have been professionally assembled and the interior painted. There are no gaps, a perfect match and the seam ranges from minimal to not even a visible. The interior is painted the factory color. It appears that all this work was done at Topping. Other painted parts are also painted in the Topping colors with an airbrush. The original builder's documentation was that this is a HH-1K; however, it seems more likely that it is a UH-1B.

Monogram Phantom Huey UH-1B Chopper Motorized with Sound, 1/24, 6867

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Rare. Dated 1969. Large and completely transparent with a 20 inch long fuselage and nearly 2 foot rotor diameter. Well detailed with 184 parts and full internal detail. Features full cockpit, pilot and co-pilot, complete cabin, opening cabin door, inner fuselage framing, detailed engine and more. The electric motor (in the display base with the batteries) turns main and tail rotors. Sound unit makes "chop-chop" sound that varies correctly with main rotor speed. To minimize painting, the kit is molded in clear, zinc chromate green, black, chrome plate, gray, olive drab and flexible silver (ammo belts). The clear fuselage halves have no breaks or cracks, they are mint. The motor, battery contacts and hardware are still in the factory sealed bag. The other parts were never in sealed bags and have been inventoried complete, including decals and instructions. These boxes were thin, fragile and easily damaged. This one is no exception. It does have four solid corners but the typical wear, etc as shown. NOTE: one pilot 1/2 has neatly broken legs, which are present. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Comet Taylorcraft - 54 inch Wingspan Flying Model for RC, 3505-300

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

1970s very large scale kit with 54 inch wingspan. For rubber or gas free flight or RC (radio control). This is a reissue of a much older Comet kit. Features traditional wood/tissue construction with high-quality balsa pre-cut stringers and spars, balsa printwood, detailed full size plans with building instructions, wheels, rubber motor, tissue, prop shaft and wooden thrust bearing and a big balsa pre-carved (but not finished) propeller. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete. NOTE: the plans have been adult cut into three sections for easy of assembly. Also, the original owner was a professional draftsman and he drew some guide lines on the plans to ease assembly. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Jo-Han 1960 Desoto Adventurer Two Door Hardtop, 1/25, C-4460

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Sold

The long, low lines and graceful fins stretching from the "A" pillar to the taillights made for a beautiful Desoto. Sales in 1960 lagged, however. It was not that the car was bad - the cars were reliable and stunning performers. Desoto was more the victim of corporate political infighting than anything else. The 1960s were the last full line, with a brief introduction of two Desoto Automobiles in 1961. Since Desoto cars were still in demand, some dealerships even sued the Chrysler Corporation for discontinuing the line. The model is very well molded and with excellent detail for that time and features full engine and detailed compartment, opening hood, full interior, spotlight, gearshift/turn signal/tach assembly, seat belts and side view mirrors. Molded in ivory, clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate parts and rubber tires. Chrome and clear are in 'near mint' condition. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all other parts and instructions.
