Comet Phantom Fury - 24 inch Wingspan - Coke Bottle Issue, N24-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

1950s issue of one of the more famous free-flight models of the 1930s. These aircraft were common in the 1930s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes reached it's zenith. It was not uncommon for these models to fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, detailed full size plans/building instructions, formed wooden wheels & thrust button, tissue and propeller. Never started and complete with all parts and plans. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Nichimo IJN Battleship Yamato With Nichimo Hobby Shop Poster - 51 Inches / 129.5 cm Long For R/C Or Display, 1/200, 1

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Early issue with the finest mold quality and the best example I have ever seen of this model. A US Navy Officer purchased this kit new in Japan and had it shipped back - still in the original Nichimo cardboard shipping box. He never touched the model - it is like new inside and out and even includes a Nichimo advertising poster that was used in hobby shops to promote the kit. Notice the comparison of size, showing how much bigger 1/200 is than the other two scales. The post is in 'very good++' condition as shown. Huge kit is over four feet long and highly detailed with hundreds of parts. Designed to be motorized for remote control operation in water with realistic drive on four propellers. Features all required hardware and wiring for motorizing, a beautiful all-metal gear box for prop drive, metal motor mount, battery boxes, moving main turrets and gun director, individual AA guns, working spotlights and more. The kit has never been started. All parts but two bag ares still factory sealed with the correct Nichimo color headers. The opened bags (metal rods and funnel) have been inventoried complete. The hull and deck were never sealed and they are in mint condition and complete with all the original packing material. The main decks are still rubber-banded to the original blue display cardboard. Includes parts layout, decals and full instruction book. Please note that Nichimio did not provide the electric motors or RC equipment with this kit. Recommended motor is an RS-540 for drive and RE-26 for the turrets and director. This is a large kit. Shipping overseas is expensive. For example, to the UK is $125.00 USD. Service to Australia would likely be around $350 USD because of the size of the box required. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Monogram The Big T Custom T Ford Street and Show Pickup, 1/8, PC78-1098

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Rare, original issue from 1962 and in exceptional one-owner condition, untouched condition. In the early 1960s Monogram invested in a series of huge 1/8 scale models with extraordinary detail and working features. The complete line consisted of the Big 'T' Street/Rod, Big Drag Competition Roadster, Big Rod Show/Go Roadster, Big Tub Custom Phaeton and this Big Deuce '32 Ford Roadster. The Big T molds cost over $100,000 to produce - an absolute fortune at the time. The design work alone for the molds was $40,000. The total cost of the complete 1/8 scale project was over $1,000,000 - in 1963 money. The result was nearly flawless, large American automotive models that has never been equaled to this day. The Big T had 203 precision parts and was the very first of the series, and parts from eleven standard automobiles - six Fords, Mercury, Cadillac, Buick, Olds, Corvette - plus special custom parts - were scaled to make it. There are optional parts for the version shown as well as a Chopped '23 Ford shell and custom grill variant. Features rolling chassis build up like the actual automobile, highly detailed engine with clear fuel lines, rubber hoses and all ignition wires, complete suspension, driveline and exhaust, choice of two interior packages, cloth seatbelts, working steering, optional position convertible top and bed cover, optional motorizing (with Monogram #AK200, sold separately), rubber white wall tires, exhibition accessories including easel with display poster, show car display stanchions and cord, two jack stands, a full chrome tool set, three flares, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, trophy and more. The box very nice condition. It is not perfect but is one of the better ones I have seen. Color and gloss are very good, all four corners are solid with no repairs, there are no price tags or tape (not even factory sealing tape). The flaws include light general wear as shown and a section of missing litho on the white top (hard to see because it is white against white). Inside the kit is factory-new. These boxes were never cello sealed; the customer was invited to look inside each one. When you removed the box top, there was a clear panel bordered with yellow cardboard and this was glued to the lower box (tray) to seal the kit. This kit still has that yellow and clear inner 'lid' in excellent condition. Under that, all the original factory packing material is present- the lower tissue and all the clear 'separator' sections used between each part tree. The model is molded in the correct colors - high gloss red, clear, silver, black, ivory, chrome plate and with rubber whitewall tires. The red plastic is brilliant, glossy and deep...it looks like paint, but it is not. The chrome is in amazing 'near mint++' condition and is factory-new due to the thick plastic separator sheets which are still in place. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still factory sealed. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried 100% complete with decals, instructions and even the Big T Guarantee sheet. The kit has never been started.

Hobby Craft Vought F4U-4 Corsair - US Marines VMF-312 (Ex-Idea / Ex-Monogram) - (F4U4), 1/48, HC1511

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Some molds have a colorful history; this one is no exception. At one point, Monogram leased or sold a set of Corsair molds (from the original 4 Star action kit) to Idea in Korea. Idea copied the molds, modifying them with a tab on each tree with the Idea name. Hobby Craft's kit is the Idea copy of the Monogram Corsair (right down to the blue and black parts) with the Idea tab. On the outside of many Hobby Craft boxes it says 'Make in South Korea' - obviously Idea is one of the agents who molded kits for HC. 'Working Action Model' with many features; wings fold, landing gear and tail wheel retract and all gear doors close, working arresting gear and rotating wheels and prop. Under-wing stores feature missiles, bombs and drop tanks. Includes decals for Marine version. The kit has never been started. The floatplane had a unique engine arrangement with two independent motors mounted front to back driving counter-rotating props. Drag was minimized by close cowling to the blocks and the least possible braces for the floats.

Jo-Han 1970 Cadillac Coupe de Ville Promo With Original Box, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very rare, especially in this condition. One-owner model was obtained new in 1970 in Lexington, KY by a very discriminating adult collector. The box is original to the model and stamped "1970 Cadillac" on the end flap. The actual model has perfect color and gloss, the chrome is like new and has never even been displayed. Tires are perfect (never rolled) and it has never even been displayed. I would grade it 9 out of 10 with 10 being flawless. I would grade it 9.8 out of 10, but there is a dark shadow in the left lower corner of the rear window; please see the photos. It appears that something may be stuck in there; I'll leave it to the new owner to take care of that.
