William H Low Co Rumsey Service Hose Reel 1850 - Wilo Line Fire Trucks, 1/24, CR110

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

$52

Very rare. Has a box art variation from the other issue of CR110. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which featured a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment, all in 1/48 scale. Bill Low was the designer of all kits and he was a superb model maker. The scale is given as 1/2" (1/24) and the finished model wagon is approximately 7 inches long without the horse hitch and ~ 12 inches long with it. The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. Wilo Line kits features "all parts in this kit cut to size and shape." Includes plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut and machined large and small wooden parts, metal stock, a sealed bag of smaller parts including a great many more fully carved wood parts, metal parts and full size plans with numerous drawings and detailed text instructions. There is even a big photo of the actual prototype and detailed painting instructions. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the parts that were never sealed are inventoried complete including plans and instructions. The kits in this line include Amoskeag Steamer, Hose Reel, Hose Wagon, Chemical Engine and many others. In most cases they are the only kits in existence of these historic vehicles. Bill Low did design at least one 'non-fire truck' kit in his Will-O-Line - a Conestoga Wagon, advertised as being 1/24 scale, kit #B14 for $2.85 listed as "This is another Museum Piece by Bill Low." After seeing these fire truck kits, I do not doubt that.

In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated parts, colored injection molded parts and clear parts. Sealsmodel Mikasa Pre-Dreadnought Battleship, 1/700, SMP0013800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$38

Very highly detailed and finely molded waterline model. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Mikasa was the only ship of her class and took part in the Russo-Japanese war. In the late 1890s the Japanese shipyards were not quite yet ready for such a project, so the Navy contracted with Vickers in Great Britain to build this ship, which is actually a highly modified Formidable class. Mikasa saw a great amount of action at Port Arthur and the Battle of the Yellow Sea. She was preserved as a museum ship in 1923. Mikasa suffered from neglect during and after WWII, but was restored to her former glory in the 1950s after a campaign led by the Japan Times and Admiral Chester Nimitz. The Mikasa is the only surviving pre-dreadnought in the world.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/47, 102-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$55

Rare early 1960s issue and harder to find than the original 1956 release. This was only made for a year or two before the new artwork release. Please note the full, original artwork (the only issue with such) due to the 'transparent' new simplified oval logo at the lower right. The side logos still have the old 'Famous Fighters' in the border. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab and black plastic and with the chock ground base and pilot & mechanic figures. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

Aurora French Nieuport 11, 1/48, 101-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$65

Still factory sealed. Rare, and even more so in sealed condition. Fifth issue with the original issue artwork still dated 1956 -but actually this kit is from the early/mid 1960s. This is the final issue to retain the original Jim Cox artwork. In this issue, the post-'Famous Fighters' blue oval has been placed in the upper left, allowing us to the see the complete artwork. (The first issue had the square Northern Lights logo in the lower left; the second issue replaced it with the early famous oval logo sunburst.) Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box is graded 'Sealed Exc+' because there is very light foxing on the left side below the 2nd aircraft. Thanks to Eugene DuBey, we know some history on the aircraft that Aurora modeled. The tail # on the kit rudder is 1354, the number of a Nie 16 that served with "CAM de Dunquerke / St Pol sur Mer", 1916-17.

Minicraft 1804 Trevithick The World's First Steam Locomotive, 1/38, 11102

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$49

From ex-Entex molds. The world's first locomotive was the 1804 Trevithick. On February 13 of that year, Richard Trevithick's high pressure steam locomotive pulled five wagons carrying 10 tons of iron and 70 men on the Penydaren Tramroad from Methyr to Abercynon, Wales. The nine miles was covered in four hours and five minutes but much time was lost cutting down several trees and removing some large rocks. At times they reached the unheard of speed of five miles per hour! The performance won a 500 Pound wager for the train's owner, Mr. Samuel Homfrey and proved for once and for all that smooth steel wheels could obtain traction on a smooth iron rail. Until this day, conventional wisdom insisted that only geared wheels running on geared track would be able to pull any load up the slightest grade. The model is from 1996 but the molds pre-date that. Older but very nice kit that is well detailed and molded in wood brown, medium gray and black. Includes display stand. The kit has never been started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the metal parts have been inventoried and NOTE: missing one (round) shaft. Easily made from round stock. Includes instructions.

Verneuil Panhard 1891 Europe Model Kits, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$30

The 1891 Panhard was among the very first modern cars and with it's groundbreaking innovations was certainly the grandfather of the present day automobile. This is a rare kit of this historic automobile from when France clearly lead the automotive world in technology and quality. This happened largely because the French people, government and authorities embraced the horseless carriage; this was the opposite of what happened in most countries, especially Great Britain where they regulated it almost completely out of existence. Nicely molded kit features about 75 pieces, detailed suspension and drive line, large assembly guide with numbered parts layout, text & fully illustrated step-by-step instructions and automobile history (in French). The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$39

1967 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. This Pyro car model is based on the Model 30 that was on display in the Auto Aviation Museum in Cleveland, Ohio that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated parts, colored injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet'. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.
