MPM Mitsubishi A7M2 Reppu Sam, 1/72, 72118

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$22

Designed as a replacement for the A6M Reisen, the first A7M1 was completed in 1944. The fighter was well armed and had self sealing tank, hydraulically folding wings and a bullet proof windshield. The Navy, however, did not use the recommended engine, so the aircraft was under powered. The revised version with the MK9A was a complete success, but earthquakes, bombing raids and a prototype crash delayed the project till the end of the war. With many brass photoetched details. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Pavla Henschel Hs-129A, 1/72, 72004

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$20

Limited issue kit with injection molded parts, film instruments and photoetched details. Has decals for two aircraft. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Henschel 129A was the result of an RLM request for a ground attack aircraft capable of attacking armor. This was the result of Spanish Civil War experience. Construction began in October of 1938 and the aircraft first flew on May 20, 1939. The flying characteristics were less than satisfactory. Several aircraft of the pre-production batch did see service in France in a training unit. The "A" variant was never mass produced as the more powerful and docile Hs-129B was put into production.

Still factory sealed but the seal has split and drawn the box concave. This is one of Renewal's famous Aeroskin kits, and a rare large one in 1/48. Features markings for the aircraft of "High Hat Squadron", VF-1B commander Seligman aboard the USS Saratoga in the early 1930s. The model has an injection molded inner structure of ribs and stringers like a real aircraft, then the modeler covers it with provided authentic pre-colored Aeroskin fabric. Pyro Portuguese Man-O-War Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai - Flagship of Vasco de Gama, 1/200, C209-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$85

Very rare Larger-scale hardbox issue from 1966. There are only two 15th century war carrack ships that have made into plastic models - this one and the Henri Grace a Dieu, also by Pyro. Pyro had a tendency to produce historically significant models regardless of the popularity. I am thankful today that Pyro made these kits, but in the long run this practice did not help them. Pyro eventually sold the plastic kit business to Life-Like. The Portuguese carrack Santa Catarina do Monte Sinai was launched in 1520. She had the typical higher-castled construction and carried 140 cannons. In 1523 she was the flagship of the famous Vasco da Gama. The kit is well detailed and molded for that time and includes pre-formed ratlines, rigging line and billowing sails. The model measures about 14 to 15 inches long when assembled. The instructions include completed model photographs that are intended to be used as for rigging diagrams. Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one gun barrel. Otherwise complete with all other parts, thread and instructions.

Pyro Charles W. Morgan Whaling Ship, C249-100

Measures 8.5 inches inches long when assembled. Molded in swirl wood tan and off-white. A photo of the built kit on the instructions serves as a standing rigging diagram. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions. This is one of the 'intermediate' line of Pyro ship kits, which at the time were Pyro called '$1.00 Models' (later $1.25). All were roughly the same size and were a significant increase in detail from the '50 Cent Models'. Kits in the $1.00 line included the Skipjack, Racing Yawl, Persian Gulf Trader, Burma River Pirate, Polynesian Outrigger Canoe, Cutty Sark, Charles W. Morgan, HMS Bounty and HMS Ark Royal. 50 Cent kits in 1965 included the Mayflower, Barbary Pirate, USS Constitution, Santa Maria, Golden Hind, Half Moon, Bon Homme Richard, War Brig, HMS Victory and Flying Cloud.

The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. This is one of the 'intermediate' line of Pyro ship kits, which were first called '$1.00 Models' and in 1967 were renamed '$1.25 Models.' All were roughly the same size and were a significant increase in detail from the '50 Cent Models.' (later called 74 cent models).
