Hasegawa Grumman S2F-1 (S-2A) Tracker - Hi-Vis Paint Scheme, 1/72, 102

Over 1000 Trackers were completed for the Navy as carrier-based submarine hunters. Grumman was awarded the contract in 1950, and in 1952 the first XS2F-1 flew. The large belly radome contained the PAS-38 search radar and the AWQ-10 MAD detector was in the tail. ALD-3 ECM performed DF (direction finding) duties, and the 70 million candle power spotlight lit up targets at night. Sonobuoys were held in both engine nacelles and offensive weapons included acoustic torpedoes, depth charges, rockets and conventional bombs. Trackers saw service in several other Navies including Canada.

Lindberg Lumber Schooner Forester, 836

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG+

$38

As the West Coast lumber trade became big business in late 1800s, the industry needed a way to move vast amounts of timber. The answer was lumber schooners, built of the same Douglas fir as the planks they carried. These ships had shallow drafts for crossing coastal bars, uncluttered deck arrangements for ease of loading and were especially handy for maneuvering into the tiny, Northern California ports. The C.A. Thayer was one such schooner, built in 1895 and preserved today as a museum ship in San Francisco. The kit is still factory sealed. This is the 1975 issue hardbox issue. Small but nicely detailed ship is about 8 inches long when assembled and includes vacuformed sails. The actual lumber schooner Forester was 217 feet long, 680 ton, 32 feet wide, drew 13.6 feet of water with a displacement of 1,812.5 tons. She cost $60,000 to build and netted between $12,000 and $19,000 per trip for her investors during the heyday of the trade. As of 2006 you could see see her wreckage along the Martinez shoreline.

Very rare. Large 1/28 scale motorized kit with many working features. A factory-assembled metal gear box with nylon gears is driven by a common FA-130 motor. The gearbox spins the prop and drives the tail wheel, moving the aircraft across any smooth surface while the red and green wing navigation light blink on and off. Factory glue is included as well as all running hardware and lights. Please note that KSN did not furnish the motor with the kit. Features hidden battery compartment (where the real engine would be) and it has moving rudder, elevator, ailerons and wing flaps. The kit has never been started and is complete. Inside it is just as it left the factory. The small parts, gearbox, lights and glue are still factory sealed. The plastic parts that were factory sealed are still sealed in the original clear bags; the few large parts that were never sealed are inventoried compete. The checkerboard cardboard presentation material and large full-color card showing aircraft and famous pilots is in very good condition . Includes instructions and decals in 'very good+' condition. The box is 100% complete with four solid corners and no repairs or tape. But it does have significant general wear as shown and discoloration, hence the 'good-' grade.

There is no other painting. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
