United Sumpter Valley No. 250 2-6-6-2 Brass Locomotive And Tender HOn3 Narrow Gauge - Pacific Fast Mail, 1/87

Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very rare and in amazing condition. Beautiful brass locomotive and tender, hand-built in Japan by the famous United Scale Models. This one-owner model has always been carefully stored in the original box. Inside, it is like new. The locomotive and tender are still wrapped in the original plastic and all three pieces of factory foam in 'excellent+' condition. Under 14x magnification I cannot see but the slightest if any wear on the wheels, so I would grade it as 'never run' although it was test run at United before shipping. There are no modifications and after careful examination I believe this model to be complete and with no broken parts; but please examine the photos for yourself! Ask me if you need something checked more closely. I have no narrow gauge track, so I am unable to test the locomotive, so it is sold "As Is." There is no paperwork present. Must be shipped insured.

All parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. With instructions. Molded in bright red and black plastic. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

This was the last "S" kit issued by Revell. Hardbox is dated 1959 and has fantastic gloss and color. All four corners are solid and original. There are no price tags and no tape beyond the short pieces of factory tape on the long sides which attached the box top and bottom together. The box would be mint but it has two creases from the right corners as shown. Kit features opening tandem canopies, moving control surfaces, detailed, removable jet engines and two pilots. As the last "S" kit, this kit also incorporated a critical improvement for the time that would become standard only recently: all recessed detail. The entire kit has recessed panel lines and rivet detail-no raised marks. It has an attention to detail that is lacking in many older Pre-S and S kits. Molded in the correct gloss light gray and clear with the "Globe" clear stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are flat and 'excellent.'

Revell Lockheed F-94C Starfire - Pre 'S' Issue, 1/56, H210-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+++

Sold

1954 issue. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear, with the 'Revelving' Swivel Base. The kit has never been started and is inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The small parts are still in the factory bag but it is opened. The decals and instructions are in 'excellent++' condition. The box has only very light wear as shown. This is the third release. The first issue was in the simple one-piece box and Revell quickly converted to this two-piece box as it was much more durable and a full-color lithographed 'slick' could be used. For the second issue, Revell added rivet and raised panel line detail as well as landing gear, and went to this box and H210-79 kit number. The famous 'Globe' clear stand was added, but the 2nd issue has the rare one piece stand arm and the instructions reflecting that. The 3rd issue (this kit) is identical to the 2nd issue except that the 'Globe' stand was changed to the sturdy 3 piece arm version.
