Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: Good+
$110
Rare 1/48 scale model of the seldom-seen Super Cruiser. This kit is from the 1950s. StromBecker was famous for this line of precarved hardwood kits. The parts are all top-quality hardwood - no balsa. Builds to an impressive display model. Features a completely carved hardwood fuselage and wing, hardwood die-cut horizontal and vertical stabilizers, sanding stick, sandpaper, Casco Casein Glue in a sealed envelope, decals and full instructions. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier hardwood preshaped model manufacturer. In the 1940s and 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. All wooden parts are hardwood and are precarved to shape - you only had to glue, sand and paint to finish them.

The Gee Bee is molded in bright gloss red, the Laird Solution in a gloss antique gold, the Ike in bright white and the R3C-1 in brilliant yellow. Inside, everything is just like it left the factory. 1961 issue from ex-Advanced molds. Molded in a bright gloss red. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The box displays better than the 'very good++' grade but is rated as such because there are two short pieces of narrow masking tape on the two long sides.

Dated 1961 and from ex-Advanced molds. Hard-to-find second issue with the 'Gold Course' artwork. Molded in gloss gray with real rubber tires. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions present. The box is only graded 'good' because there is significant bug damage on the left short side panel and lighter damage on the other three side panels & edges as shown.

Dated 1961 and part of the popular Aurora 1/32 scale automobile line. Features one-piece body, interior detail and rolling wheels. Molded in ivory plastic and with rubber tires. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. The box has bug damage to the litho 'slick' as shown on the top and also on all four sides. The instructions are confusing as they show four outer wheels then four more outer wheels but they are not labeled on the instructions...also, there is no place for them on the sprues. Therefore I believe they are a mistake on the instructions.

Very nicely detailed hardbox first issue from 1967 and an excellent effort from Lindberg. Lindberg designed this and a few others to compete with the famous Pyro 1/32 Vintage Car series, carefully choosing popular subjects that Pyro did not cover. With this kit, Lindberg exceeded Pyro's best efforts in this scale. The model features a full rolling chassis build just like the real car, detailed engine, complete exhaust, driveline, detailed front and rear suspension, full interior, removable hood, separately molded 'whitewall' inserts, rear trunk rack and more. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.
