MPC Dodge A-100 Deora Show Car or Custom Camper by Alexander Brothers, 1/25, 6221

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Still factory sealed from 1987. Who can forget the Deora show car? My first exposure was a Mattel 'Hot Wheel' Deora, and the car's image seemed to be everywhere for quite a while. Mike and Larry, the Alexander Brothers, ran a well known and respected customizing shop in the late 1960s. Upon seeing the cab-forward Dodge A-100 Utility Truck, they had an inspiration. What they created was a timeless classic from a true 'ugly duckling'. To top it, the Deora show car was a completely functional car, not just a 'trailered' vehicle. Kit includes custom anodizing gold paint to simulate the original finish of the Deora. Can be built in one of two versions - the one on the box top or the enclosed version with a camper rear. Features complete interior, opening doors, detailed 6 cylinder engine and full decals.

ITC Halibut SSGN 587 Electric Powered Diving Motorized Submarine (Regulus Sub), 1/175, 3660-998

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Restored

Sold

This model is the zenith of the ITC Design and Engineering Team, and maybe of all operational plastic models. It is not only rare but is widely considered the most complicated injection-molded operating kit ever produced. The large 24.75 inch long model sails from the power of a large electric motor driving twin geared propellers. It changes headings, dives, surfaces, and a Regulus II missile comes out of the hanger and launches...all automatically. The engineering on this kit is fantastic and was a major break-through in its day (about 1960). The high price and difficulties that youngsters had with assembly/operation made for a short production run. The model worked, and did work well, but was certainly not a toy for inexperienced model builders. This kit has the original bottom box, complete original interior packing colored cardboard, but the box top has been restored. Inside, the kit is in excellent condition. It has never been started. The kit has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, instructions and even the original ITC inspection slip. The blue display cardboard is all present and good. Instructions are very good.

Can be build to a very realistic model as there are no rivets and only very fine panel lines. This kit has never been started. It is either still in the internally sealed factory bag or has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Blue, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufacturers in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

MPM Sukhoi SU-5 (I-107) - Jet and Piston Powered Fighter, 1/72, MP5004

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG-

Sold

Rare Soviet piston powered aircraft with a turbine jet engine in the tail. The Su-5 was designed in 1944 and flew in 1945. This is kit multimedia. The main airframe parts are vacuform with recessed panel lines. All the details (prop, spinner, landing gear, braces, wheels, gear doors and more) are injection molded. The kit has never been started. NOTE: according to the instructions, the kit is missing an inlet screen and a tiny 'bump' or fairing on the cockpit side. After looking at the injection parts trees and vac sheet, I am not certain that these parts were ever present. Other errors on the instructions cause me to question this. Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instruction with aircraft history.
