Sterling Stearman PT-17 Kaydet Dusts Crops in Flight - 22 Inch Wingspan for R/C / Control Line / Free Flight, A2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that actually releases 'crop dust' in flight. Can be flown with rubber, electric or gas control line or converted to RC with modern lightweight systems. Features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine, exhaust and pilot bust, clear dual die-cut windscreens, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of decals, covering tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE there is some bug damage to the backing paper only on the decals. The actual transfers are free of damage. The box is only 'fair' and not collectible; the kit inside is fine and an ideal builder. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Nicely molded kit for that time with very good interior detail for all crew stations, rotating props and wheels and very detailed landing gear as the actual aircraft. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Leo 451 was a greatly improved French medium bomber design of the late 1930s. Pyro Monitor United States Ironclad, C258-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sale Pending
Email for availability.

Rare early issue of the Monitor alone. Usually this kit is only seen in the release that contains it and the Merrimac. Great hardbox artwork by AJ Rudisill from the late 50s. The Monitor was one of two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the St. James. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862. The Monitor is 10 inches long when built, is a full hull model and includes a display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Please NOTE: the instructions have a short closed tear and a small stain from old tape (which has fallen off); also, one blade is broke from the prop at the base but the blade is present for an easy repair. Although dated, the Pyro Monitor and Merrimac kits are generally considered superior to the Lindberg models of the same ships.

Comet North American F-100 Super Sabre - 12.7 Inch Wingspan Flying Balsa Airplane - Coke Bottle Issue, R10-59

The model has not been started. Inventoried complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
