Pyro Half Moon The Ship of Hendric Hudson, B366-75 plastic model kit

B366-75 Pyro Half Moon The Ship of Hendric Hudson

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

1967 issue with great artwork. Half Moon is the famed ship that English mariner Henry Hudson sailed up the Hudson River in 1609. This nicely molded small scale ship model is full hull and includes very good molded in hull and deck detail, separately molded cannon, anchors & masts, billowing sails and more. A photo of the built kit serves as a rigging guide (as does the box art as well). Includes a display stand and name plate. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Hendric Hudson sailed for the Dutch to find a direct westward passage through the New World to the Indies. He entered New York Harbor in 1609 and continued up river. After 17 days he was convinced that this was not the route to the Indies. The following year, he sailed for the English with the same mission. Hudson sailed more northerly this time and discovered the great bay which now bears his name. His ship was frozen for the winter. When the spring thaw came, he tried to continue north but his crew mutinied and set him adrift in a small boat with his son and some crew members who did not join the mutiny. They disappeared forever among the ice flows of the Arctic. No trace was ever found. The crew returned to England to face trial.
