OldModelKits SS Normandie Ocean Liner 1935, 1/350

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$950

Oldmodelkits.com has received exclusive license from French Lines/CGT to produce and sell the SS Normandie in 1/350 scale. This nine-year project is a 100% new kit. Seven of those years were spent accurately modeling the ship from scratch in TurboCAD. All this design work was done by a master modeler and engineer who helped pioneer industrial CAD and 3D printing at GM. This limited-run kit represents the Normandie from her 1935 maiden voyage to New York and has over 1,100 individual parts. The hull and larger parts are pressure-cast resin from de-aired molds. There are two large photoetched brass sheets (one for railings, ladders, details, etc. and one for the davits), three sheets of laser-cut, real wood printed decking (from Scale Decks), decals, flag sheet and a DVD with detailed, highly illustrated instructions including painting guide, step-by-step rigging instructions and research material. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Cleveland Kling's Folkerts Speed King Racer - Balsa Model Airplane Kit, 1/16, 71

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$129

Older issue in the cardboard box with 'Cleveland World Famous Models' printed in silver. From around 1937-1942. This is a Cleveland model in museum scale of 1/16. The kit came from a long time collector of 1930s and 1940s models and is in exceptional condition. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. This kit is specifically designed as a scale model with retractable landing gear. However, if you do wish to fly it, additional instructions are provided on the necessary modifications. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, covering material, highest quality plans, all parts required for assembly and decals (if issued with the kit). The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Lindberg Tuna Clipper 'Ann' (Gulf Star) - (Ex-Pyro and Life-Like), 1/58, 70896

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$38

Still factory sealed. From quality Pyro molds dating from the early 1960s. Modeled from the two Tuna Clippers (Gulf Star and Sea Magic) of the Avondale Marine Ways Company of New Orleans. Model has a hull length of 13.5 inches. Pyro actual designed these for water operation (with the Boat PowerPack which sold separately), so they make nice small R/C models. Hard-working tuna boats and crews roamed the ocean year-around in a dangerous business. Many vanished without a trace. The Gulf Star was wrecked on a reef off Peru.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good+

$44

Still factory sealed but the seal has shrunk and exposed the box ends. Nicely made, larger scale kit from the mid 1950s to the very early 1960s. Lincoln was based in Hong Kong. Plastic kits were not the primary business, but they established quite a line of them before discontinuing production in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Many molds moved to Kader, also in Hong Kong, who reissued the line. Many molds eventually found their way to the USA either through ATP (who purchased the excess kit stock when Kader sold out) or IM.

Sanwa B-26D Invader Bomber - (A-26 / A/B-26), 1/110, 514

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc-

$58

Still factory sealed. Dates from the early 1960s and very hard to find. The scale is approximate. The kit is dated by the 'Tokyo Plamo' logo, which was used between 1960 and 1964. Sanwa was one of Japan's earliest post-WWII kit producers, making model kits in the 1950s; some sources say 1955. Kits were marketed under Sanwa and Tokyo Plamo, with the general consensus being the the later logo came out around 1960 or later. Production ended in 1964, making all Sanwa kits rare and collectible. The entire line was extensive. It included very small scale tanks (some that were motorized), battleships in three scales with the larger ones motorized with dual prop drive, slot cars, civil sport boats and an electric outboard, a full line of hand gun models that actually shot plastic bullets, two fighter groups and bomber groups (probably Monogram), several different lines of scale aircraft, missile kits, scale (static) car models of early Japanese automobiles, at least 7 flying model aircraft that had electric and rubber motors, a 'Super Control Stand' P-51 that move with a joystick and had an electric propeller and sound unit, two different lighthouses and a windmill, an air cushion boat, motor cycles, a diving submarine (electric) and a working (rubber band) George Washington Class SSBN and even a garden tractor with an electric motor. There was even a cut away 727 in big 1/96 scale and an Airport Set with a Cessna 180 and Bell 47D Helicotoper. Just before going out of business, Sanwa issued some kits in conjunction with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic games - these kits even included a copy of an Olympic medal.

Designed for simplicity, reliability and economy, the Sedan did all three very well. Crusing speed was 130 mph at 1850 RPM with a top speed of 150 mph. She landed at 60 mph and weighed 2,280 lbs. Range with a pilot, 600 pounds of people or cargo was over 500 miles.
