1/390 780M-100 Lindberg Q-Ship - (Decoy Ship / Sea Raider / USS Atik / SS-Carolyn) - Motorized
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+
Very rare. NOTE: builder kit only, please read carefully. From the late 1950s. Very interesting kit with Ray Gaedke artwork. This is the Motorized version of the Lindberg Q Ship, which has an unknown prototype but is suppose to be a WWI style Q-Ship submarine trap. This model was also issued as the 'Decoy Ship' and 'Sea Raider'. The ship appears to be a WWI British Q Ship by the title, yet looks a little modern and has US numbers of 171 on the box art (which apparently mean nothing). The Lindberg model actually has the layout of the AK-101 USS ATIK, which was formerly the SS-CAROLYN, built in 1912. The CAROLYN was recommissioned as the USS ATIK and at the start of WWI which was a real US Q-ship. NOTE: this kit has been started. The hull halves, prop and prop shaft have been assembled. Quality of assembly is average - the hull is very usable and has good alignment. The masts, vents, lifeboats and stack halves have been painted white. You can paint over this or strip them with DOT 3 brake fluid or other safe plastic stripper. There is no other assembly or painting. NOTE: missing one battery holder half (for the motor), 7 (of 16) deck vents and decals. Includes all other parts and decals.
