Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

This is one of the "Shelf Model" series by Guillow's and works out to roughly 1/46 scale. These early 1950s models were a new concept designed compete with the 'solid' scale models of the time. Instead of the usual tedious carving and sanding, Guillow's advertised on the box side that "The Die-Cut Parts Go Together Like Magic!" Features all die-cut parts on five sheets of balsa, wood stock as required, metal propeller, metal wire for the landing gear and comprehensive text step-by-step instructions, full size drawing, exploded drawing, cut out insignia and rudder flash, instrument panel and many more details. The wingspan is 7 inches. This is an all balsa kit and no tissue is needed. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and all paperwork.

Enterprise Cycle Miniatures Tandem Bicycle, 1/15, B2

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very rare. Enterprise was a very successful maker of balsa wood free-flight and control line aircraft models dating well back into the 1930s. The Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' got the attention of Enterprise staff. Enterprise maintained their own museum of rare and extraordinary old time bicycles, so it only seemed natural that the first (and only) two plastic kits from the company would represent bikes. This model is of the Tandem, based on an example from 1896 and is very nicely molded and detailed for that time. It includes a display base also. This model and a 'Old High Wheeler' were fine kits issued in 1954 but did not sell well; production was discontinued after a short run. The kit has never been started. All parts are either still sealed in the 'krinkle' bag or have been inventoried 100% complete with the base.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Very finely molded in silver. Features separately molded ailerons, elevators and rudder. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.
