Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Even the plans and large decal sheet are both in 'near mint' condition. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

AMT 1956 Buick Century Convertible Promo Friction Drive Motorized, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

Original dealer promotional model. And AMT went to a good deal of effort on this model! It features a all-metal chassis, friction motor (which works), metal axles and gear, metal rear bumper, front bumper and grille, metal portholes and two tone interior. Clean windshield is excellent. The body has good color and gloss. This is a celluloid plastic body, so there is some warping, but less than what 90% of the survivors have. It is still very displayable. The boot and steering wheel rim have been very neatly painted by the previous owner. If any of the other silver trim is not factory painted, it sure is neat enough to pass for it!

Aurora Piper Cherokee 180, 1/72, 281

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1968 issue of the very popular Piper light aircraft. After Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they reissued the Comet civil light aircraft line. It appears that Aurora may have been inspired by the Comet kits or sales of the reissues, and they produced several more new molds to add to the line. This 180 is one of those kits. Since the kit was designed new, it has significantly more detail than the older Comet kits. Features all recessed panel lines, full interior with a sofa, two seats and instrument panel, clear windows, rotating propeller and complete landing gear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. This is an Aurora Holland issue with the original English instructions.
