Renwal See-Thru SSBN 618 Thomas Jefferson Polaris Nuclear Submarine, 1/200, 653

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

$245

Classic 1950s boxart at it's finest and the rarest of all the Renwal SSBNs. Large 24 inch long kit with clear right half that is hinged to open. The Jefferson is the only Renwal sub that has the clear hull half - all others have a solid gray hinged half. The clear hull half model has never been reissued. The clear half is in very good condition and carefully wrapped for shipping. There are no splits, cracks or breaks and the only flaw is typical slight yellowing. Features a heavily detailed interior and actual 'launching' Polaris missile from a spring loaded missile tube. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neat assembly to two parts: the torpedo room bulkhead and inner wall are assembled to 'near mint' quality. There is no other assembly. Those two parts and one torpedo cradle are very neatly painted; there is no other painting. All parts have been inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

Hawk Ski Boat Sport Runabout Rag Top - Motorized and with Working Skier, 205-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$155

Very rare. Dated 1961 with hardbox artwork by Bill Campbell. Large-scale kit measures 10 inches long when built, but no scale is given. Designed for motorized operation in water and can actually tow a water skier, which is included. Molded in a stunning high-gloss dark blue, ivory, chrome plate and light tan. Features dual rudder control, high-torque propeller, female boat driver, male water skier with ski sled, universal joint drive, removable cabin top, detailed cabin and display stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, electric motor and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina - Scale Error Version, 1/74, 374-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$135

Rare, first issue artwork from about 1955-56. This was a fine effort by Aurora for that time and an impressive model when assembled. Features retracting pontoons and rotating props. Includes correct early logo instructions which show the clear 'Triangle World' stand and the correct stand is included. This must be one of the first instances of the 'Triangle' stand being used as it is normally associated with oval 'Famous Fighter' logo kits. Molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note the 'good' grade due to small white paint spots at the right and a slight crunch at the upper right corner. It is interesting to note that the early Aurora PBY issue has at least three small variations to the box top. The very first issue says '1/4 SCALE MODEL' at the top right. Clearly, this kit is not 1/48 scale and someone at Aurora corrected it. Following that, there are two known corrections: early and late. On the early version, the '1/4' was blotted out with a dark blue oval or circle and '5/32' was added after the word 'SCALE.' It was now correct, but the appearance was not completely professional. This box is the early, uncorrected version.

Pyro The Privateer Antique Pistol, 1/1, C202-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$69

Early hardbox issue from the late 1950s or very early '60s. In addition to cars, ships, planes and figures, Pyro added an excellent line of well-known and not-so-well-known life-sized (1/1) scale pistol and rifle models to their line. In each case Pyro gained access to the actual weapon during the kit design, insuring an accurate model. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bag; the two largest parts were never sealed and are complete including instructions.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good+

$30

Pyro Mississippi River Boat Packet Natchez, 1/160, B238-800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$169

Beautiful hardbox issue from the mid 1960s. Very large and highly detailed model measures over 21 inches long when assembled. The Natchez was the famous rival of the Robert E Lee. The race between the two is considered a classic tale of The River. Although the Lee won, the circumstances were suspect and many people still considered the Natchez the fastest paddle-wheel packet ever. (For example, the Lee carried no payload and the Natchez was carrying passengers and a normal payload.) Molded in high-gloss tan, burgundy, green and gray plastic. All details of the real ship, including the wooden railings and carvings are duplicated. Includes full rigging instructions and thread. Never started. All the parts that were originally factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the few parts that Pyro did not seal have been inventoried complete. With instructions, decals and flag sheet.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc++

$85

Still factory sealed. This a late 1950s issue and the second Lindberg boxing of this kit. By far it has the most interesting artwork, this time done by Ray Gaedke. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Lindberg Japanese Zero Motorized, 1/48, 304M-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$85

First motorized issue from the late 1950s with great hardbox artwork by Ray Gaedke. Includes electric motor and all hardware. Molded in silver and clear. never started. The motor is still factory sealed and all other parts have been been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that that one of the prop blades is cleanly broken off at the hub; it is present for an easy repair. The meticulously researched box art scene may be of particular interest to admirers of Mr. Gaedke's work. The colorful aircraft combines with abrightly painted, grassy background, including a well turned out (Army) ground crewman, to produce an almost storybook, 'beautiful day in theneighborhood' atmosphere. A most attractive and, in an historical context, almost whimsical image. Please read the biography of Ray Gaedke, which is located on this website.
