  Aurora Model Kits

Aurora Roman Bireme Warship, 1/80, 435-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$125

Large scale model in the 1967 hardbox. Very nicely molded and one of Aurora's better designed and detailed models. It is full hull, measures 11 inches long when assembled and features very nicely detailed hull planking and decoration, detailed deck and tower, individually molded oars and shields, two sails and 11 Roman Rulers, Tillers and Soldiers. Includes painting and rigging guide. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the very tip of a rear hull half is neatly broken off but is present so you can repair it. It fits back perfectly for a simple repair.

Aurora Boeing KC-135 Jet Stratotanker, 1/125, 143-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$69

Dated 1963 and from ex-Comet molds. This is the largest of the two Comet molds and has cockpit and cabin clear windows and full landing gear. Molded in gloss gray and clear. This model was given a clear Aurora two piece 'triangle world' stand, unlike many of the other Comet kits which only had a modified version of their original stands included. Of course this is not the production KC-135 but a model of the Boeing prototype with USAF decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora British Churchill Tank, 1/48, 315-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$95

Long hardbox issue dated 1966 and in remarkable, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. The only flaw is very light wear, almost completely restricted to the edges. In those days, it was said by reviewers that Aurora made the best tank kits - this one is no exception. Features all moving bogies and drive wheels, flexible black treads, elevating main gun, rotating turret, one tankman, three soldiers and decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition as well.

Aurora Dick Tracy, 1/16, 818-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$155

Rare original issue dated 1960; not the common reproduction. The hardbox is in 'Excellent+' condition with great color and gloss. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts and instructions.

Aurora De Havilland DH-10 Bomber, 1/48, 786

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

$58

1976 issue with revised molds. Much better kit than previous releases. Features choice of markings, painting guide, rigging instructions and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/47, 102-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

$48

Rare early 1960s issue. This release has turned up less than any of the other issues and was only made for a year or two at the most before the new artwork release. This is the only issue with the full, original artwork due to the 'transparent' new simplified oval logo at the lower right. The side logos do not have 'Famous Fighters' in the border. One side has the original printed '102-79' part number while the other end has a factory-applied '100' sticker over the 79. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab and black plastic and with the chock ground base and pilot & mechanic figures. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays much closer to 'Excellent++' but is graded lower because there is a small tape pull on the lower long side and some missing litho at the right short side.

Aurora De Havilland DH-10 Bomber, 1/48, 786

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$52

1976 issue with revised molds. Much better kit than previous releases. Features choice of markings, painting guide, rigging instructions and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

Aurora Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, 1/48, 114-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$52

First issue dated 1957 with Jo Kotula art and the 'new' (that year) Famous Fighters oval logo with the sunburst inside. Molded in a beautiful gloss yellow, black and clear. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Voodoo F-101, 1/136, 294-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$65

1958 dated hardbox that is in exceptional 'Near Mint' condition. It would have graded nearly mint, but there is a '40' in black ink written on the right short side when the kit was marked down to this new price. Molded in silver and clear with full landing gear, display stand and decals for 'FB-419.' The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Around this time, Aurora issued a series of inexpensive (usually 29 cent) small scale kits that were designed to sell at almost any type of retail location. The line was successful and further expanded - when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they fit in nicely with this established line.

Aurora Regulus II Guided Missile - With Mobile Launching Platform, 1/48, 378-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$265

Rare and even rarer in this condition. This kit was factory sealed but the seal recently split across the back - so I opened it up to do a 100% inventory and slid the seal back on. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory - never started, with the red parts still in a factory sealed clear bag and with all other parts inventoried 100% complete, including 'excellent+++' decals and instructions. 1958 release of this famous kit featuring classic Jo Kotula boxart. The large 1/48 scale missile comes with a fully operational scale launcher. Please note this is a true first issue because there is no Parents' Magazine' printed logo or the golden sticker. The model features a well detailed missile with lower booster and the mobile launcher with good suspension detail, valves boxes and covers, tow bar, servicing and access platforms with railings, elevating main pad and three figures. Molded in the correct deep gloss red, silver and dark blue plastic. Please note that this kit displays better than the 'excellent' box grade but is rated as such because long crease on part of the lower long box side. This kit must be shipped insured. The Aurora "Missile Line" is legendary. In the late 1950s, the first missile model kits sold briskly, so Aurora and Revell both planned extensive lines. However, the missile modeling craze disappeared as quickly as it started. Models that were in the works were canceled or completed if they were far enough along. Those that were completed were fine efforts but sold poorly and had very short lives, making them rare collector items today.

Aurora Convair VR XFY-1 Pogo, 1/48, 60-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Aurora Boeing P-12E, 1/48, 121-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$69

Still factory sealed. This kit is dated 1958 and is the second issue with the 79 cent price extension and 'Famous Fighters' in the sunburst oval. It features fantastic Jo Kotula artwork. The Aurora 1930s aircraft series were excellent kits for that time and rated well in the early plastic modeling reviews.

The comic book is in 'very good' condition. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Inventoried 100% complete including 'excellent' condition, flat decals and instructions and even includes the original factory tissue paper. NOTE: although the kit is complete, 1/8 inch (.31cm) of one-half of a tip tank is gone - it either broke off or was short shot.

Aurora Nike Hercules Missile - With Launching Platform MIM-14, 1/48, 379-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$325

1958 first and only release. Large 1/48 scale missile includes an elevating launcher, many moving parts and a crew of four. Molded in the correct white and olive drab. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition and the instructions are 'excellent++.' The Aurora "Missile Line" is legendary. In the late 1950s, the first missile model kits sold briskly, so Aurora and Revell both planned extensive lines. However, the missile modeling craze disappeared as quickly as it started. Models that were in the works were canceled or completed if they were far enough along. Those that were completed, like the Nike Hercules, were fine efforts but sold poorly and had very short lives, making them rare collector items today.

Aurora Bristol F2B Brisfit - (F-2B), 1/48, 113-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

$78

1957 first issue with dramatic Jo Kotula artwork. The box is in amazing, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. Color and gloss are perfect, as are the four corners. There are no price tags or tape and no marks from either (other than the factory sealing tape, of course). There is no fading, cuts, tears, stains or missing litho. The only flaws are very light wear, mainly on the edges. Molded in the correct gloss dark olive and black plastic. The kit inside is mint and never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both flat and 'excellent' with typical yellowing as the only flaw.

Aurora Atomic Submarine Nautilus SS571, 1/242, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor

$58

NOTE: builder or parts kit only, please read carefully. Rare, Brooklyn-produced early 1950s U-Ma-Kit. This was Aurora's first naval model. Molded in the correct glossy very dark gray plastic. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing parts. Both bow dive planes and one prop are missing. NOTE: decals have been cut out and are missing (2) eyeballs and one shark's mouth. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals (separated) and instructions. NOTE: instructions are present but completely split in two down one fold seam. The box looks better than the 'poor' rating but is graded as such because there is extensive clear tape holding the top together, stains and missing litho as shown at the bottom and on the bottom long side. The tray (lower box) is present but split along most seams.

Aurora Convair F-102 Dart - (YF-102 Delta Dagger), 1/121, 290-29

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc-

Please note that this is an earlier issue with 'Famous Fighters' in the oval border of the Aurora logo and is has the '.29' on the lower right. Nicely molded with a clear canopy, full landing gear and display stand. This is a model of the very early YF-102 prototype with the straight (non-area rule) fuselage. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Around this time, Aurora issued a series of inexpensive (usually 29 cent) small scale kits that were designed to sell at almost any type of retail location. The line was successful and further expanded - when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they fit in nicely with this established line.
