Aurora Wheeler Cruiser Sports Fishing Yacht, 1/43, 444-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very rare kit with great box art by Mort Kunstler. This is the first issue dated 1967. Aurora did a beautiful job on this model, but it simply did not sell and was discontinued very shortly. The high price of $5 USD and the esoteric subject matter were likely to blame. This is a large-scale model with excellent detail and molded in white, medium wood tan, medium blue and chrome plate. Features a one piece hull, propeller and rudder detail, one piece main deck, venetian blinds for the larger interior windows, extensive deck fittings which are all separately molded, all hand rails (in chrome), dinghy with interior and oars, spray shields, display stand, 5 figures and more. The kit has never been started. The blue part are still in the factory sealed bag. All other parts have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes instructions and decals. The chrome plating in in 'as new' condition. Please note that the box has light wear, age foxing and one split corner at the lower right which has been duct taped.

Pyro USS Olympia - Admiral Dewey's Flagship, 1/240, B240-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1967 issue with A.J. Rudisill artwork. Pyro's famous full hull, large scale model of Admiral Dewey's famous flagship. The kit has never been started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing two parts - two small guns (they look like large machine guns). Otherwise complete with all other parts including instructions. Please note that the instructions are only 'fair' due to wear and tear (mainly on the edges) but perfectly fine for use in assembling the model. In addition to her more famous role in the War with Spain, Olympia went on to active service in World War I, the Allied intervention in Russia, and as flagship in the Mediterranean, 1919. She is preserved today as a museum ship and one of the very few protected cruisers left in the world.

Inside, the model is molded in the correct gloss dark red plastic and has not been started. The kit has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals, flag sheet and instructions. Please note that the box is only 'good-' because of one split corner, light overspray on the left box top (the left most 2 inches) and general significant wear.

Comet P-40 Tiger Shark - 13 Inch Wingspan Plastic Flying Airplane Model, CC-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare flying model from the late 1960s/early 1970s. It is still in the original Comet cardboard mailing box. These models were once fairly common, but almost none of them survived due to their fragile nature. This is a fully decorated 3D (not profile) model with the main airframe parts made from flexible, durable and very thin vacuformed plastic. Also features two wing spars (also from plastic), a plastic vacuformed cowling, plastic wheels, plastic propeller with spinner and separate thrust button, very light and thin fully formed wire landing gear, wood rubber motor retainer and light metal rubber hook/propeller shaft. There is a large sheet of fully illustrated step-by-step instructions and also a Comet Catalog/Flyer with an order form. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. This model reminds me of Comet's 'Ready To Fly' line except those were assembled and usually had a cardboard wing instead of plastic. While the other 'Ready To Fly' line never performed well because they were far too heavy, this vacuformed all plastic model is super-light weight as you would imagine.
