Aurora North American F-100 Super Sabre, 1/103, 490-70

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$48

Dated 1961 with the great Jim Cox artwork that makes early Aurora kits so collectible. This issue has a slightly larger box than earlier ones. It is a nicely done kit for that time, molded in silver and clear with full landing gear and clear 'Triangle World Map' stand. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Please note, this is not a reissue of the Comet model. Aurora cut these molds years before acquiring Comet's F-100. Since this kit does not have 'Famous Fighters' in the oval logo border and has a 70 cent price extension, it is most likely from the late 1960s and not the artwork copyright date of 1961.

Aurora Republic F-84 Thunderstreak, 1/80, 299-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$38

Aurora of Canada issue dated 1964. This is from ex-Comet molds and includes the modified ex-Comet 'teardrop' stand as well. It is a nice early kit with recessed panel lines and clear canopy for 'in flight' display configuration only. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Lockheed F-104 Starfighter - (ex Comet), 1/110, 291-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Very rare 1964 Aurora of Canada hardbox issue of the ex-Comet kit. Several small-scale Comet molds (including the F-104, B-47 and B-52) were never reissued for the USA market and for decades I have wondered what happened to them. Aurora had no need for them, as they had already cut their own (superior) small-scale molds for those subjects. Well, the ex-Comet molds went to Aurora of Canada! The slightly less detailed Comet kits were issued there using the same box art as their slightly more detailed Aurora USA counterparts. Simply looking at the box top, you could not tell the difference. However, the contents and instructions gives the secret away. Molded in silver and clear and still retains the original Comet 'teardrop' shaped two-piece stand. Naturally the instructions are completely unique since this is a completely different kit from the Aurora USA Starfighter. This model is 100% correct and has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Boeing B-52 Stratofortress - (ex Comet), 1/317, 2494-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$129

Very rare issue dated 1964. This is the seldom seen Aurora reissue of the Comet kit for the Canadian market only. Several small-scale Comet molds were never reissued for the USA market and for decades I have wondered what happened to them. Aurora had no need for them, as they had already cut their own (superior) small-scale molds for most of those subjects, including the B-52 and B-47. Well, the ex-Comet molds went to Aurora Canada! The small, less detailed Comet kits were issued there using the same box art as their slightly larger and more detailed Aurora counterparts in the USA. Simply looking at the box top, you could not tell the difference. However, the four digit part number gives it away as do the contents. Molded in silver and clear and still retains the original Comet 'teardrop' shaped two-piece stand. Naturally the instructions are completely unique since this is a different kit from the Aurora USA B-52. This kit is 100% correct and has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Veeday Yakovlev Yak-15 - Sample Release, 1/72, 002

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$22

Rare injection molded, limited run model. Veeday was a British company that produced some of the earliest 'short run' injection molded kits. Production lasted from 1978 to 1982. In all, 16 kits were issued if you count the Cierva C30 RAF and the C30 civil issue as two kits. Less than 1000 of each kit was produced and all kits were boxed. Two bagged kits (Pfalz D.XII and Spitfire 24) were issued after Veeday ceased production by someone who purchased the left-over stock. This kit has never been started - all parts and decals are present. However, NOTE: the instructions are missing. That is probably why it is labeled a "Sample Only."

ODK was the logo used by Odaka Sangyo. Odaka began plastic model kit production in early 1960, but all production stopped by 1965. The Irving was their first kit; however, this issue is likely the final issue given the more realistic box art. Molded in silver, black and clear plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The box says this is one of "Odaka's Double Engine Aircraft Series" and ODK says the scale is 1/55. Advanced Molding Corp Ferrari 342 America Sports Car - (pre-Aurora), 1/32, 13

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$45

NOTE: builder only, please read carefully. Very rare and for the advanced builder/collector of early plastic models. Advanced Molding issued 7 pioneering plastic car kits in 1954. But in 1955, Aurora purchased the molds then released them (the first in '55) under the Aurora name and artwork. They became famous under the Aurora name but virtually unknown under the original Advanced label because they were issued for year or less. Advanced cleverly advertised all 7 kits on each box - the box top shows the kit inside, and the long side panels show 3 on each side. The 7 were the Cunningham, MG, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari Sportster, Corvette and Ferrari 342 America. This kit is the Ferrari Sportster, is molded in bright red with rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has the body shell assembled to 'professional' quality. Fit is perfect and the seamed are puttied and sanded. There is no other assembly and zero painting. All parts are present. With instructions that have a nice history of the car. Advanced was located at 54 West 21st Street, New York 10, NY. After selling the cars, Advanced remained in the plastic model business with the Trailblazers HO train series in 1955 centered around the famous "General." It was issued as a locomotive and tender, or just the cars as set (passenger, mail combine, baggage, box car, flat car and caboose), or the cars each separately and the rare freight set which included the locomotive and tender, box car, flat car and caboose.
