Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

SALE!! Includes two kits in the one box shown. Both models are never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Well molded kit with photoetched parts. The Stella was a STOL aircraft much in the sense of the Fi-156, but it's performance was superior in every way. Horsepower was almost 30% greater and fowler flaps were fitted and synchronized with variable incidence horizontal tail surfaces for dramatic STOL performance. The ship was easy to fly and found favor in all theaters as a communications aircraft. In 1942 7 Stella were placed on the Akitsu Maru and used as ASW aircraft. Decals are included for two Akitsu Maru paint schemes and one unknown unit.

MPM Focke-Wulf Fw-189 V6, 1/72, 72516

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

Sold

Still factory sealed and the only 1/72 scale kit of the V6 variant. The Fw-189 made it's first flight in the late 1930s and was ordered into production soon afterwards. However, in 1938, the V1 prototype was returned to Focke-Wulf for modification into the V1b close support aircraft. The fuselage was replace with a small structure consisting of mostly armor plate. However, this aircraft found itself in with the same problems plaguing it's competition, the Hs-129 V1 - it was too heavy and underpowered. After being destroyed in a crash, the V6 (this model) was built as a back up for the Hs-129 which was also still in development. Eventually the Hs-129 was developed into a fine aircraft and there was no need for the V6 '189. This is a beautifully molded model with all very fine recessed panel lines, very good two-seat cockpit (gunner and pilot) and much more. With paint guide and decals resulting in the latest research of this rare aircraft.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good-

Sold

Very nicely detailed and molded kit from 1980 features clear windows, full landing gear and passenger boarding stairs. Includes colorful Dan-Air London decals. The initial Comet Is were in operation long before the 707, which gave the British an incredible post-war lead in the expanding civil aviation market. Just as the Comet was flying high and orders were pouring in from around the world, Comets began to mysteriously fall out of the sky. Everything from lighting to terrorist bombs were blamed. For months the root cause went undiscovered. Then, in a landmark investigation that is considered the first modern post-crash autopsy, it was discovered that the stresses around a small ADF window on the top of the fuselage were causing metal fatigue failure when the fuselage was pressurized. To confirm this, a Comet I was placed in a water tank and subjected to pressurization stresses. After some time, a dramatic failure occurred. Then parts of a crashed Comet were pulled from underwater proving once and for all that this was the root cause.

Alliance Focke-Achgelis FA-269, 1/72, 72021

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Rare and still factory sealed. Beautifully cast in high-definition resin. Conceived as a single-seat VTOL point-defense fighter, the Fa 269 project resulted from a design study order issued by the Reich Air Ministry to Focke-Achgelis in 1941. The order called for a local defense fighter which would combine the VTOL capabilities of a helicopter with the speed and economy of a conventional fixed-wing aircraft. A large amount of wind tunnel testing was undertaken, along with work on gearboxes, drives and power-pivoting mechanisms, and a full-scale mock-up of the aircraft was built to demonstrate the VTOL concept, but much of this was destroyed by Allied bombing raids and all work was shelved in 1944 when Focke-Achgelis estimated that there was little likelihood of a practical prototype being available before 1947. Design: A mid-wing monoplane, the Fa 269 was to have been powered by a single BMW 801 air-cooled radial engine buried in the fuselage behind the cockpit, which was to have driven transverse drive shafts in the leading edges of the fixed wing, the shafts turning three-bladed rotors via synchronised gearboxes. The plane of rotation of the rotors would have been capable of being swivelled through 80° using angled extension shafts. It was proposed that the Fa 269 would adopt a high angle of attack when at rest using extremely long undercarriage units. For vertical take-off, the rotors would be lowered till their plane of rotation was parallel with the ground. For translation to conventional flight following take-off, the extension shafts were to pivot to the rear, the rotors then behaving as pusher propellers.
