Ideal Aeroplane & Supply Boeing Fighter (F4B-4) - Midget Craft 6 inch wingspan Solid Balsa Airplane Model - (F4B4)

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Very old 1932 issue from Ideal Aeroplane & Supply Company. Ideal was one of the first US model airplane producers, starting their business in 1911. During the early years of the Great Depression, Ideal switched to balsa wood and soon released a line of 'Six Inch Wingspread' solid scale models in a line called 'Ideal Midget-Craft'. Adds for this line can be seen in Model Airplane News and other major popular aircraft publications of the 1930s. The models included plans and the required wood and usually retailed for about 10 cents. This aircraft has been started, which in this case is good news. The fuselage from Ideal was simply wooden stock. The original builder has carved the fuselage very accurately and correctly to about 90% finished. No other work has been done and no other parts have been cut out of the printwood. The model is complete and would be easy to finish.

Hawk 1959 Studebaker Lark Daytona Convertible or Coupe - General Mills Trix Cereal Premium Issue, 1/32, 630-631

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Very rare. This is a General Mills premium of the scale Hawk Lark kit, which can be built as a coupe or convertible and is motorized with a unique rubber band drive which includes the winder. The model is molded in gloss dark red and silver plastic, has never been started, and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions, right down to the original rubber bands (2 lengths) and a letter from the General Mills Executive Offices apologizing that they decided not to include the small glue capsule - due to a fear that smaller children may think it was candy or a pill and eat it. And if you were unhappy, you could return the kit and get your original 10 cents back along with the cost of postage! The kit is in the original mailing box that it came in. This was a Trix piece as the instructions include the fact that your 'Trix Trailer' can be hooked right up to the Lark, and that the Lark rubber motor has plenty of power to pull them both! (The trailer was inside Trix and not included with the kit.) A great piece for the advanced collector.

Guillows Rumpler C5 - (C-V) 24 inch Wingspan RC/Gas/Rubber Kit, 206

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Large-scale, well detailed kit and one of the harder Guillow's kits to find. Can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small, light servos and receivers. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform nose/cowl and engine, full color decals, colored tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Aurora P-38 Lightning, 1/48, 99-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Very rare. Of all the P-38 variants, this one seems to turn up the least. I even doubted the existence of it for a time. This would be the fourth issue and is most likely from 1957. It uses the same artwork as the 1955/56 Third issue, but Aurora dropped the rectangular 'Aurora Line' logo and Famous Fighters of All Nations logo. Molded in a very high gloss olive drab and clear, with the correct clear two-piece 'World' triangle based stand. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, exceptional condition decals and instructions. As with typical with Aurora, they used the 1956 instructions, replaced the old logo with the new, added the Parent's Magazine seal but left an illustration of the old stand (for which 1956 was the last year).
