C&S MC2 Metal Clad Blimp US Navy ZMC-2 - 9.87 Inches Long, 1/181

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$125

Rare 1930s model of this early US Navy Blimp. The ZMC-2 (Zeppelin Metal Clad 200,000 cubic foot capacity was the only successfully operated metal-skinned airship ever built. She was built at Naval Air Station Grosse Ile by The Aircraft Development Corporation of Detroit. ZMC-2 was operated from 1929 to 1941 by the U.S. Navy at Lakehurst, New Jersey base. She was scrapped in 1941. During her service ZMC-2 completed 752 flights for 2265 hours of flight time. This model was made by C&S Model Company, Trenton, New Jersey. They had quite a line of airships as I have seen their adds in very old Model Airplane News magazines. This kit has stick and tissue construction and features printwood, stock wood parts, stringers, blocks, covering tissue and full size plans. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and paperwork included. Please note that the plans have bug damage but they are certainly good enough to use if you wish to build the model.

Maircraft Curtiss P-40 - Solid Wood Model Airplane, 1/48, S13

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$26

Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model). This lead to one of the most desirable and rare model kits ever produced in the USA - the wood/plastic 1/48 United DC-3 model issued immediately after World War 2. Other than the P-61 and a few other Maircraft offerings, most were simple kits that sold for the low price of about 35 cents and gave the owners many hours of pleasurable work. This kit features a full size plan with instructions steps, fuselage that is about 80% cut in the x,y and z axis, profile cut parts, printwood and a small bag of details. The model has not been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag and the larger parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete with all paperwork. Please note, the insignia for this kit is Chinese markings only.

F&B 1953 Chrysler Custom Imperial - Four Door Sedan - Wood And Metal Model, 1/25

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$46

Very rare model from F&B Model Aircraft. In about 1953, F&B decided to branch out and produced at least three car kits - this '53 Imperial, a Jaguar XK120 and a Nash Rambler Convertible. The Imperial model measured out fairly close to 1/25 or 1/24 scale and features die cut balsa wood, pre-cut balsa blocks, wood stock as required, stamped aluminum bumpers, grill, bumper guards, emblems, tail lights, head lights, hubcaps and door handles, plastic steering wheel, completely finished rubber wheels, die-cut clear windows and light lenses and a large fold-out, highly illustrated step-by-step instruction sheet. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes all paperwork. This kit is for modelers experienced in building all-wood kits from the 1940s and 1950s. It is not for beginners and scratch building skills are a must. F&B was located in Denver, Colorado.

Hobby Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 - Soviet Rocket Fighter - Bagged, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$19

Limited run Russian model injection molded in brown plastic and with an injection molded clear canopy. There is little flash and fine raised and recessed detail. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Please note that the kit did not come with decals and the instructions are inside the header. 'BI' stood for Blizhnii Istrebitel, which was 'close-range fighter' in Russian. Obviously, it also stood for the last names of the designers. The program was the Soviet Union's effort to produce a low cost rocket interceptor. The airplane flew and flew well, but it was plagued by engine issues, corrosion from nitric acid, and eventually tail flutter at high speeds that caused the loss of the most experienced test pilot, Grigory Yakovlevich Bakhchivandzhi. The early development started in 1938, with the first flights in 1940. The aircraft underwent a series of engine improvements and was still testing through 1945. The aircraft never entered series production. Bi-1 through BI-9 were built.

It particularly refers to a 1938 exercise in which the 51st's G-50s successfully intercepted a simulated attack by the 12th's SM-79s. Prior to the introduction of the G.50, the SM79s had easily outpaced the Cr-32s flown by the 'cats.
