Matchbox Dornier Do-18 G-1 / V-2 / D-2 Civil or Military - Luftwaffe Calais-based 3/KuFlGr 406 (1940) or 2/KuFlGr 506 Kiel 1938 or Civil D-AANE 'Zyklon' Lufthansa South Atlantic Mail Service (1938), 1/72, 40409

Sold

Still factory sealed with the 'round tape.' Dated 1992 and from original molds. Lufthansa was a pioneer in trans-oceanic mail services and the Do-15 and Do-18 grew to fit this need. Given the German interests in South America, it was no surprise that they established one of the first airmail services between Europe and that continent. This kit will build one of those aircraft, the Lufthansa South Atlantic Mail Aircraft (1938) D-AANE 'Zyklon' or the military version. The Do-18 was an improved D0-15 'Wal' and set several records during it's long useful life.

Guillows Rumpler C5 - 24 Inch Wingspan RC/Gas/Rubber Flying Aircraft - (C-V), 206

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Large-scale, well detailed kit and one of the harder Guillow's kits to find. Can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small, light servos and receivers. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform nose/cowl and engine, full color decals, colored tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Revell Medicine Wagon - Miniature Masterpiece, 1/48, H521-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Rare 1955 issue and a highly detailed model for that time. Features medicine wagon with detailed suspension and open rear platform, colorful decals for Doctor Brown's Snake Oil, two horses, Dr. Brown, one entertainer, Indian, local man and a local woman with her young boy and girl. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays much better than the 'good++' rating; it is graded as such because of the very light staining restricted to the very top of the box top. There is similar light staining to the adjacent long side. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although the molds were made at Adams and it had the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. Originally there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also.

Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also. The molds, however must have remained in Adam's hands, because when Life-Like acquired the Adams molds, the Miniature Masterpieces were included as well.
