MAI North American AGM-28 Hound Dog (GAM-77 / WS-131/WS-132) Cruise Missile, 1/72, 002

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Cast resin kit of the mach 2 cruise missile. Hound Dog was suppose to be an interim weapon until Skybolt was ready. Skybolt never became a reality (due to Polaris and other technical issues and costs) and over 400 Hound Dogs were made and they served with 29 SAC wings well into the 1970s until the AGM-69 SRAM became available. The initial idea was that the missile would help 'pave the way' by eliminating radar and missile sights ahead of the bomber, allowing the bomber to reach the target and drop large gravity weapons. Later, as with SRAM, it was decided that Hound Dog could be fired at the main targets also as the defenses became even thicker. This thinking eventually lead to the 1980s cruise missile. Includes launch pylon and very detailed instructions with the history of the Hound Dog it's paint jobs and markings. Complete and unstarted.

Lindberg Remote Control Convair B-58 Hustler, 1/64, 551-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+++

Sold

Rare. First and only release in the correct Cellovison box with trading card on the back. The kit is still factory sealed and the box is one of the best I have seen and is in excellent condition. Very unusual large scale (1/64) kit with full remote control base. As the 'Pilot' moves the control stick on the remote base, the bomber changes pitch and roll, and the elevons and rudder move to reflect the proper attitude! In addition to the Remote control, there are numerous operating features and good detail - retracting main and nose gear and opening/closing gear doors, opening cockpits, movable control surfaces and four detailed engines with removable cowls.

Monogram Midget Racer PC1 Very Early Issue, 1/24, PC1

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

In the late 1940s/early 1950s, Monogram began to use injection molded details in the famous Speedee-Bilt and SuperKit aircraft models. The parts chosen for injection molding were generally difficult to carve from wood. From this experience, Monogram was ready to embark on all-plastic models. The first effort was the Midget Racer in large 1/24 scale. The box is the correct one-piece flip top that is identical to the balso and plastic Superkits. The advertising on the outside is unique and is used to promote this new type of model. Almost every part is pictured and named on the many sides. This box is in excellent shape with only light overall wear. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct red acetate and still sealed in the original 'Krinkle Bag'. The bag is brittle and has the usual cracks, but is still intact. The instructions are correct for this early issue and are in very good condition. Monogram did not include decals with this issue. A great piece for the advanced collector. As a side note, there are two early issues of the Midget Racer, one with the kit number P-1 and the other PC-1. Naturally you would think that P-1 was the first issue since this was the earliest numbering system for Monogram kits. However, P-1 has been found in a hardbox with gloss red injection molded parts, decals labeled 'P1' and correct die-cut windshield and instructions. PC-1 has been located in the earlier 'Flip Box' with acetate parts and was not issued with decals. So the materials used and box style of PC-1 appear to pre-date the box style and materials used in P-1!
