Scale Flight Model Company in Bloomington, Indiana, USA was dedicated to releasing authentic reproductions of the finest "Dime Scale" flying model (stick and tissue) kits from the 1930s/40s. Dime Scale models used to sell for a dime in the 1930's, hence the name. They are actually box scale, but as a general guideline, they usually had a wingspan of 16 inches and have simple and light construction. "Dime Scale" models are now a class of model to be flown in some competitions. Kit consists of contest grade printwood, contest quality strip wood, machine cut balsa propeller, the best Japanese tissue, wooden wheels, competition bushed nose plug, brass thrust washers, prop shaft, prop freewheeler, FAI rubber strip motor and a copy of a genuine dime scale plan that was used in the 1930s-1940s. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: instructions are photocopied on to two sheets

Still factory sealed but has a split box along the left top. Hard to find. Early hardbox issue from the late 1950s/early 1960s. Kit includes both models. The Antoinette was the first plane in the world to attain an altitude of 500 feet, and the Voisin made the first city-to-city powered flight. These are unique and accurate kits. The original internal frame structure and details of the aircraft is built from injection molded plastic. When complete, it is covered with a very strong fabric which is included. The result is a very realistic aircraft.

LONG BEACH was the world’s first nuclear-powered warship. She was launched in July of 1959 as the lead ship of the first new cruiser class since WWII. Originally designed as an all-missile cruiser, she was later fitted with two 5”/36 caliber guns amidships. After serving more than 33 years, she was decommissioned on 1 May 1995. This kit has never been started. It is either still in the internally sealed factory bag or has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
